Hi
I'm.new to the group and I know thus maybe about parenting with young children but i I'd like people to understand what it's like to parent a 20 year old !
I'm a single mum and have brought my daughter up on my own . Since the age of 14 she started having mental health issues and this has progressed throughout her life she has depressive phycosis and anxiety which leads to self harm and suicide attempts and I'm exhausted wmriky and physically drained she gets PAs 12 hours a week to help her but social services and her mental health worker won't let her have nay more hours .
People think and tell me she should be more independent I need to let her take risks and trust her ! What they don't understand a vunrable adult is still a child still not capable of making adult decisions in their life's because they cannot deal with life's choices .
I guess its that old saying " at what age do you stop seeing your children as babies and more as adults "

As you say, your daughter is still a child in many ways, needing more support in everyday life that most other 20 year olds. Your parenting years stretch and don’t become the friendly back up “ I’m here when you need me” type of mother.
Do you have any support for you?
