I know she was 95 and had a long life but she seemed like such a lovely lady and I absolutely loved her as Dot in Eastenders!

Feeling a bit sad that’s she now gone, may she RIP Flowers

I feel the same. It's ok to miss people even if they've had a long life.

I absolutely loved that scene in Eastenders when Dot’s eyesight was deteriorating and she drove the wrong way in her car! Was so funny!

She will be so missed

Whilst people may be sad to have lost her - what a brilliant life.

Eastenders stalwart - and she was 60 (ish) when she started on there and having a full life pretty well until her death at a really good age

Let me go like she has. I don't want to spend years either in ill health or with dementia I'd much rather go out whilst I still have all my marbles and relatively good health.

She said a few years ago that she wasn't going to stop smoking and drinking just to (maybe) exist a bit longer.

Good on you June, you lived and died by your own rules and didn't go young despite the 'excesses'

RIP to a brilliant role model

I remember when she and a friend were huddled together in s power cut and turned to recalling the blitz. June was wonderful, extracting terror and pathos from her war tales. The scene took up the whole show that night and she carried it.

She had an amazing life, was reading about some of it earlier, so much history. A fantastic woman. Sad but what a life! Smile

Lamujere · 05/04/2022 02:38

Just joined in to say me too. I had a very soft spot for June Brown and, of course, she was 95 and couldn't go on for ever but still sad.

DowningStreetParty · 05/04/2022 02:41

She was a brilliant actor (and Dot and Ethel together were a fantastic duo.)

AlexaShutUp · 05/04/2022 02:41

Not an Eastenders fan, but I watched her being interviewed a few years ago alongside Lady Gaga - I think it was on Graham Norton or Jonathan Ross or similar - and I was really struck by her personality and her obvious zest for life. May she RIP.

Yes. It is sad news
End of an era
Rip June Brown

She was an amazing , funny actress who lived a good, long life and was loved by many. Death is upsetting but we all get older. I would say her life is an inspiration to many.

carefullycourageous · 05/04/2022 06:50

Yes, it is sad, she was amazing I thought. I didn't even watch Eastenders but she was such a well-known person and I thought very talented. Whenever she was interviewed she was interesting and funny.

I know everyone has to die but yes this death seems very sad.

balalake · 05/04/2022 06:59

Try to remember all the good things, of a long life well lived.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/04/2022 08:28

End of an era. 🙁
She had a good long life, though.

Who else saw her in Who Do You Think You Are? some years ago?
It was one of the most fascinating ever.

There was IIRC an 18th century prizefighter in London, but her roots went right back to Spain in the 14-or 1500s, when Jewish ancestors had to flee the appalling persecution of non-Catholics. There were still records of them in Spain, IIRC in the archives of a synagogue.
