Really shouldn’t have started looking at my Scottish power app in detail at this time of night!!
We live ( myself DH and 14 month old) in a v small end terrace 2 bed. We use energy as minimally as possible. We don’t have gas, and we only have two radiators (storage heaters) on through the winter in the living room and bedroom (DD still in with us because of this! Although she’s moving to her own room shortly) I know storage heaters aren’t great but we use them as little as possible, only when it’s v cold and they have a thermostat so aren’t on all the time.
We had a smart meter installed in October, and our usage before the recent price increase would generally be between £4 and £6 a day depending on how hard the storage heaters were working.
However, I’ve just had a look at our usage on the app and it says we were frequently spending over £12 a day in November-March?! With the biggest bill being January at £400 and the other winter months £300+. Based on what we were actually seeing on the smart meter, I expected it to show a monthly usage of £150 -£180.
What am I doing wrong here? Is the smart meter wrong? Is the app? I will honestly start crying if it’s the smart meter that’s wrong. If we somehow spent £400 in January (and still were freezing cold most of the time and thought we were only spending £5 a day) how much will it be now with the increase?!
Also- the app also shows that we’re still £240 in credit somehow. We pay a monthly direct debit of around £107 at the moment so surely it should show that we owe them money by this point if the app usage amounts are correct?
Please if anyone has any wisdom or advice or calming words I’d be so grateful.
