Looking for some really good essential oils

I've recently bought myself one of the lovely diffuser pods by NEOM which came with one of their own-brand essential oils (mine was orange blossom and neroli), that I've now run out of. The oil is absolutely lovely and smelled gorgeous but is eye-wateringly expensive to repurchase at £20 for 10ml Shock

Have you used any lovely, cheaper essential oils for diffusers that you would recommend?

If you’ve got a t k maxx near its worth checking there, they’ve usually got loads of interesting blends quite cheap

Tisserand - On Amazon or TK maxx

Amphora Aromatics are great too

If you're going to use essential oils to make your house smell beautiful, make sure you use high quality, pure oils. Many of the cheaper brands are synthetic so not great for you or your environment. When you use 100%pure oils you need less of them. I'm a doterra wellness advocate and would be very happy to help you with some choices.
Agree very much, better quality essential oils are nicer I was buying Neom and Neals Yard Jasmin oils Then read the labels…product of Egypt My younger son lives in Cairo He bought a 250ml bottle of jasmin oil last time he visited and will bring more each time. It’s lovely and excellent quality too

I know this post is a few months old but I'd love your advice that you offered the OP on the oils, if I may.
I have just purchased a Neom diffuser and I love it. In fact, I have binned my plug in's and Reed diffusers in place of it as I just want to move to a more 'pure' scent. The Neom oils are expensive and, while I don't mind paying more for a high quality product, I've heard Neom aren't the best. Can you give me some pointers brands I should be looking at please?
Many thanks!

Some oils, unfortunately, are just more expensive than others, and neroli is one of them. Partly because you need more raw material to produce the same amount of oil, and partly because the perfume industry drives the price up. Neroli, rose and jasmine are among the most expensive you can buy, and if you find them cheap they’re probably either very diluted or synthetic. I wouldn’t use neroli in a room scent for this reason- you need to use huge quantities of it and the costs just don’t stack up. For a similar effect, try a blend of lemon or bergamot, ylang ylang (just a little bit) and petitgrain. These are all much cheaper and will give you a citrus/floral blend.

Hi @ClaireA67, I see you've responded to my post but it has been deleted before I could see it. Thank you for coming back to me. Obviously I can't see what you've said but I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

@LoobyDop, interesting what you say about Neroli and I will remember that. Have you got any advice on what brands of essential oils are good for room scent? Do I need to be looking for 100% pure essential oil or does it not really matter?

LoobyDop · 25/01/2023 19:59

The brand doesn’t really matter, but I buy mine from Naturally Thinking- they are good quality and a good price. I would stick to 100% essential oils, as synthetics won’t give you the same quality of scent and will have added plastic nasties I wouldn’t want to breathe in. The most important thing is the blend. You need a mix of top, middle and base notes. Top notes come out first and dissipate first- citruses and lighter florals. Middle notes are leaves and florals, and give you the bulk of the strength. Base notes last longest and are the heavier oils- resins etc. If your blend is all top notes it won’t last, and if it’s all bottom notes it won’t spread well around the room.

That's great information. I've chucked all my 'fragrance oils' away and intend to replace with all natural.
Thanks so much for the advice Smile

Bergamot ylang ylang and lavender work well together

snoodles · 25/01/2023 20:21

Where would you recommend buying good quality essential oils?
