I can get compensation for this, right? No heating.

My energy supplier kept offering a smart meter and I finally took them up on it. A man came out in mid-March and installed one. In so doing he disconnected my E7 storage heaters.

I followed up and finally this past Friday they sent two more engineers who did some more work and assured me it was all sorted. After they left I noticed that the smart meter had stopped working, and the storage heaters are still not working. Also one of the engineers texted me asking for a date.

I'm just going to return the smart meter and hire a local electrician to fix the heaters.

Am I right in thinking that there are some regulations that say I have to be compensated if I'm left without heating?

I would say so especIally as it's been so cold

Thanks, I'm trying to find the regulation that says so. Unfortunately my supplier keeps trying to fob me off to their local subcontractors.

You'd had no heating for 2 weeks? Did they supply any temp heating (plug in radiators)? Do you have anyone vulnerable in the house (eg baby/Someone with a disability that affected by cold)
I would complain for sure.

Also one of the workmen asked you out on a date using your number he got via work??

No I have a plug-in electric heater but it's like burning £5 notes so I try to use it sparingly.

Yeah, the engineer firm obs had my number for when they arrived. Then later that night around 10 one of the engineers texted me from his personal number to ask me for a drink.

I don't even want a smart meter!

Confused I would complain about him asking you out for a start!
They need to get it fixed ASAP, then I would ask for compensation for being left without heating.

Who’s your supplier? Link to SSE page sse.co.uk/smart-meters/smart-meter-problems-and-solutions

Report the guy who tested, and get the problem fixed then pursue compensation - they will need to know how long you were without heat to arrive at a figure.

It's Bulb. They've told me that I need to raise a complaint with their contractor but I'm like, "No my contact is with you not them!" Maybe I just need to go to Ofgem.

Tweet them with the details publicly and they'll action something much faster. And shame them.

The whole thing's been depressing. So much privatisation and subcontracting going on that no one's responsible for anything anymore.
