I've switched a lot of my veg to frozen and chopped. Equally nutritious and just as fresh- you just can't use it to batch cook and as you're not supposed to re freeze them.

@SpringLobelia

Never go on Amazon or ebay when drunk.

( posted under another user name once how DH and I bought a baby grand piano once when shitfaced on pink champagne. neither of us play the piano. Nor do we have room for a piano).

This reminds of a guy who hit the headlines locally with his drunken Ebay purchase of a full sized Ferris Wheel...

@declutteringmymind If you cook the veg and then re freeze it will be fine. Same with frozen meat and fish

bought a 2600g box of Daz at Savers last week for £4.50.
they claim 40 washes, not sure about that, but good value anyway.

Sell what you don't need either on fb sales eBay or Vinted then don't buy more stuff to replace it:

Has anyone tried the Too Good to Go app.
Local shops and carveries selling off unsold items at well reduced prices. You just reserve them and pick up.

I very recently bought a Hoover combi inverter microwave oven and grill costing 134.99 with a 3 year guarantee, instead of using the full Range cooker which is mad if you live alone and only want to do small batches when cake baking, casseroles, roasting veg etc. It's very cost effective.

I like cappuccinos but can't always be bothered to fill and fiddle with my classic Gaggia machine and the tamping/frothing blah blah so I often buy Nescafé Gold Cappuccino sachets which are about £3 for a box of 8 but only when they're on sale at 1.65 a box in Tesco. Recently found Amazon sell them with 5% off and free postage so I started a subscription service and have 6 boxes delivered to my door for £8.10 every 6 weeks which works out at £1.35 per box and a fraction under 17p per sachet for a mug of delicious coffee. Sweetened or unsweetened and lots of varieties, mocha, latte etc.
i also treat myself to glossy magazines when on offer. Woman&Home is currently £3 for 3 monthly copies delivered.
I agree about cold laundry washes and only do laundry every 2 weeks, jeans every 10 wears. Jumpers/sweatshirts on hangers outside to freshen up between washes. Hardly ever need to use iron.

BTW, First Direct is offering a 3% savings account from Thurs 28th. Any amount up to £300pm. Interest would be £58.24 over 12 months which is better than nothing.

@LILLYPRINT
Morrisons in Woking is the only place I know of which does it ..or used to. Don't know about nowadays and it's about 30 miles away. I couldn't be bothered even if it was nearer.
I understand that families might find it useful but I don't even buy yellow label stuff as I shop fresh about 4/5 days a week and rarely use the freezer except for ice cream.

Yes I've used the Too Good to go app

M0rn1ngParkour · 29/04/2022 09:21

First Direct
3% on a regular saving, works out to be 1.5% at the end of the year
Still better than other banks & tax free
