HRT Glue jigsaw

Is there a solution I'm missing to the square gluey borders all over my hips? Every time I change a patch I'm left with a black square outlined on my skin. They now cross-cross and overlap like a trendy fabric print.

I've tried talc, liquid talc, scrapey every thing just slides over it. My skin is quite sensitive so I'm reluctant to scrub.

You can get a spray in the chemist to remove adhesive from skin. It works really well.

picklemewalnuts · 01/04/2022 07:53

Oh great! I'll ask next time I'm in.

Mind, it's a good wheeze from the medical suppliers... stick these patches all over you. 'And would you like some removal spray with that, madam?'

I get out of the shower - so its all soft basically- then go at it with a damp flannel. I use the roughish ones i have been using for years and never threw out rather than my new fluffy ones. This seems to work for me.

I leave the last one on so i can remember where i put it. Shitty meno brain and all that.

Most types of patch or plaster sticky stuff will come off with either oil (baby oil or regular vegetable oil), or alcohol (such as those in hand sanitiser) just depending on the type of adhesive used.

PurpleFadesToGreen · 01/04/2022 07:58

I find either surgical spirit or nail polish remover works well, on a cotton bud.

Or you could try some hand sanitizer, the alcohol should dissolve the gluey bits

picklemewalnuts · 01/04/2022 08:07

Ooh, all good ideas, and saves buying another packaged product. I'll have a go. I made up loads of alcohol spray at the start of the pandemic, so I'll start with that. It didn't get used up, as we didn't go out!

I just ignore it😂.

I'm so happy to be on HRT that I wear my little squares with pleasure.
I swim and have saunas most days. The patches have never fallen off. That's impressive!

picklemewalnuts · 01/04/2022 12:05

I have been ignoring them, but I'm now looking like a geometric jigsaw with them all overlapping! Perhaps I'll just be more conscious of how I place them, and aim for a pleasing symmetry...

baby oil has worked very well for me (Evorel)

over50andfab · 01/04/2022 19:19

I had this with Evorel - baby oil on a cotton pad removes it well. I used to do them as a job lot about every month - giving a once over all of them first to soften the glue, then concentrating on each one.

Elphame · 01/04/2022 19:39

Rub with an oil ( I use avocado but any will do). Leave for a couple of hours and it will rub off really easily.

Fordian · 01/04/2022 21:45

I don't worry. I just leave them (Evorel). I had the much smaller Estrodot (?) patches pre Brexit, no longer available. But never left a residue.

But I now have the mucky square on my thigh.

😂

Estrodot is definitely available. And is amazing!
Fuckitsstillraining · 01/04/2022 22:17

Can't get estrodot in Ireland at the moment, I loved being on it and am not finding the alternatives as good but right now it's a case of accepting whatever is available, I've gone from patches to gel and back to patches!! I use a medical wipe (dh was given 100's of huge ones at a sports event during covid) before applying patch because they recent ones weren't sticking, I'm also having to heat the damn things with a hairdryer to ensure they stick, then I have to use the wipe to remove the residue but I'd wear the telltale marks across my forehead rather than go without!!!

cosmosforall · 01/04/2022 22:22

You can use the patch itself to rub off the glue when changing it.

ASaucerfulOfSecrets · 01/04/2022 23:08

I’ll tell you what not to do….. don’t take one of those dermal razors and think to yourself “ooh this will just shave off”

Master of shit ideas me. When the bleeding finally stopped it was really sore. DH called me a dick head. I couldn’t argue.

StillMedusa · 01/04/2022 23:27

Patchwork Everol here too... but the alternative was murdering my dh for breathing too loudly, so the HRT is preferable... Grin

I nearly beat mine to death in the bread aisle of Tesco in a bitter argument over a panini. I still maintain I was right.

Still, patchwork Evoril is probably preferable to prison.

That's sounds promising! I'll have a go on Thursday!

Baby oil works a treat

iklboo · 04/04/2022 13:20

Another tip. DON'T use nail varnish remover either. That stings in certain places!

picklemewalnuts · 04/04/2022 16:51

I got a few off with @cosmosforall method, thanks!
