good bedding sets online that aren't too pricey?

Boring thread alert...

Recent relationship breakup and he will be taking the nice bedding with him, dammit!
Last night I dug an old set out from the back of the airing cupboard bought back in the day before I knew about thread counts and Egyptian cotton and oh dear... not a comfortable night.

So where did you get your last bedding from, if you were after good quality but not eye-wateringly expensive? Is Egyptian cotton the be-all-and-end-all? Any decent alternatives? Would be great to get some recommendations.

I get mine from George at asda! It lasts for ages, washes well and looks nice.
I don’t buy the Egyptian cotton, I find it cold. So just the normal one

I second George! I bought some after it was recommended on here and it’s great quality for the price.

Can you really tell the difference between regular and fancy high thread count duvet sets?

I mean do they genuinely feel different or more comfortable?

I'm poor so I go to places like Dunelm so prob not fancy enough for you. Selfridges would prob have the sort of thing you're after. Or John Lewis.

TK Maxx It's hit and miss, but they do generally have some Egyptian cotton stuff reasonably cheap. For example (although it doesn't state the thread count)

M&S Bamboo bedding. Absolutely the BEST I've ever had and I've spent a fortune on Supima cotton in the past. My DH takes a pillowcase with him as he travels for work lol

Yes to the M&S bamboo range. Very reasonable comfy and as good as Egyptian cotton. Purchased for spare bed and ended up on our bed.

I had come here to say George, thinking I would be the only one! I treat myself to a new set every few months. Currently have the George Home Grey Eucalyptus Birds Reversible Duvet Cover Set but just had a look and they don't make it anymore so I'll look after this because I love it! The two sets I have are washing really well and neither cost me more than £12. Both are subtle, lovely prints.

Theres always lots of high thread count Egyptian cotton in Homesense. For duvet covers and pillow cases Bedeck is really good value.
