Is a dog stroller (for bike/pushing) useful?

I have 3 large dogs around the 20kg mark so I can't carry them but as my H left I now have no car so no way to get them to a vet in an emergency or if they can't walk like after being spayed etc. 1 will walk that far but the other two are stubborn and might stop half way. Would a large dog stroller (more like the bike ones than a pushchair type one) be useful for these situations or is there a better solution? My mum can sometimes give lifts but she's not a big dog fan and I don't like to rely on her too much. Also am I going to get funny looks etc?

Do you have a local pet taxi service? Would be a good back up if the weather is awful.

The strollers are a good idea if you are carless, there will be times one will have an injury, so vet trips, or even getting them out whilst walking the others.

For £250, you could get an awful lot of taxis or hire cars

Are you thinking of buying one to have for ‘just in case’..?

True about taxis but they're very sheddy, drooley dogs so not sure how happy they'd be about taxi'ng them. I've never heard of pet taxis so maybe they're not a thing in our area. I would definitely use it if I had one as with two unspayed girls (He left just as they came up to be being ready for being spayed so had to cancel as I had nobody who could help me) I would need something to get them home.

I think they are great and can be very useful. I know someone who has one for her collie, she has a dog that is still young so can walk miles and she takes her other one in one of those so he can out and enjoy the walk but also rest when needed.
She has also used it for a group picnic, got loads in.
With regards to people looking at you, maybe they will, but who cares.

You will probably find that local dog walking companies offer a pet taxi service. That would be my first port of call. Have a few options lined up. Much better than spending a lot of money on something you will probably never use.

I have one - I cut down on car use in the spring and summer so cycle my dog to any walks that are up to about 10-15k away. Keeps me fit. The dog loves it. I also use it to take the dog to the vet in all weathers as they are only a 10 min cycle from me. I do live in a fairly flat area though, it is quite hard going up hills with one on the back. Paired with an electric bike I probably wouldn't need a car at all!

The problem with taxis is that you have to be reliant on them being free, quite often I've given up on taxis as they've been busy or they don't turn up.

I've seen cheaper ones, that was just the first I clicked on.

I'm glad people have found them useful. I am considering everything you've all added as very good points made.

I used to have one (not exactly like that - mine was a cheapish one that you could have on wheels or wear as a rucksack - I have a small dog) when my dog was a puppy. Because I didn't have a car then. I found it very useful - he had a foot injury and he could sit comfortably in it while I got him to the vet. He out grew it eventually, and I'm actually thinking of getting a larger one for him (I have a car now but can;t drive because of an injury) in case of vet visits. I like the look of that one you have linked to. My dog was quite happy in his - seemed to enjoy being wheeled along (lazy boy !! Grin)

Also I met a woman out the other day who had her elderly dog in one - she said the dog likes to get out and potter about a bit but can't manage a long walk - so it meant she could take the dog with her when she goes for a walk.

The boyfriend isn't helping, he told me to please get one as he'll pee himself laughing if he sees me with it.

I don't have one, or indeed a dog, but I walk to work through a park with lots of dogs being walked. They are not unusual to see and often seem to be occupied by older dogs. I think they are great and very practical, hence my user name.
