Cradle cap at 3 years

My child still has cradle cap - lots of flakes across their scalp with a yellow tinge.

I'm using dentinox but it's no better.

I tried conditioner on the scalp and then combed it which got a lot of but the second time I did it, some of the scalp was red and sore afterwards. Plus it's all come back.

Any ideas/will it go away by itself?

Only finally got rid of dds when she got head live from her sister and I had to use the nitty gritty comb and conditioner religiously.

Head and shoulders.
The only thing that shifted it for my child after years of oil, the specialist shampoos etc.

Olive oil massaged in, left for a while, then a bit comb to lift it out of the hair.

Mine still gets it sometimes at nearly 6! We find that the children’s Vosene keeps it at bay but if we switch to a different shampoo it comes back after a couple of weeks. T-Gel worked really well to clear it up when it was bad, but the children hate the smell so wasn’t a good long-term option for us.

DS1 had cradle cap till he was about 3. It kept growing with his head, it was something like scaly brown cap on his head. Didn’t want me to brush/comb it as it was probsbly sore.

One night when he fell asleep I put the ordinary cooking olive oil on his head and massaged it gently into his head to let it work its way through this horrible scab

I left it for a couple of days then brushed his head with very soft brush. He wasn’t upset anymore. All the flakes came off leaving some blood speckles behind.

Gave it another couple of days and washed his hair to get rid of oil.

Vaseline worked winders for us. My mother in law suggested it. You smear it quite thickly on the affected areas, leave it throughout the day/overnight and then comb when you wash the hair. All the flakes came out and he's not had a problem since. Hair obviously looks really greasy before you wash it out but it was a small price to pay!

Be careful with this, I ignored my sons cradle cap into school thinking he would grow out of it and he ended up with pityriasis amiantacea. I only realised when I tried olive oil on his scalp to clear the cradle cap and a whole load of flakes peeled off taking clumps of hair with them and he had two big bald spots. I took him to the doctor and Nizoral shampoo helped so much. It's still not perfect even with being treated though.
