Hybrid working what is your pattern?

I've been working at home since March 2020. I haven't been back at all. There are lots of advantages to working from home but I would like to be back in the office sometimes. I've just got a new full time job and have been asked what working pattern I want in terms of working from home and the office. But I have no idea what to ask!!! Can anyone share their pattern and what they like about it.

One day a week, same day, so I can set time for those things where face to face conversation has benefits. So where I am planning meetings, they are not on that day if at all possible.

I'd prefer it to be less frequent to be truthful, but am doing this for the consideration of newer colleagues.

Thank you @balalake so is that one day at home and 4 in the office?

In my last hybrid role, I did Mon, Tues and Thurs in the office and Wed and Fri at home. This was planned around my childrens activities, rather than my own personal preference, but it was nice to break up the week.

I prefer going into the office on a Monday, as most bank holidays fall on a Monday, so on the bank holiday weeks, you still get your normal wfh days.

I do like to go in when my team are in as I think it's important to still feel connected to them, so I would plan at lest 1 of my days to fall in when a few of them are in the office. Otherwise, I quite like going in when the office is quiet, as there are less distractions.

I work 4 days and do 2 days in office most weeks - usually Tues and Thurs but is flexible and can do more if i want but have to do at least 2.

FairyCakeSprinkles · 28/03/2022 17:19

I've been hybrid working for years. I did two days in the office / travelling, two days at home and one day off (I'm part time). It was the perfect balance.

I'm doing one or two days a week at the moment. Want to get back into two days a week every week really.

I work Monday, Wednesday and Friday at home and Tuesday and Thursday in the office.

I have several meetings with colleagues based in other offices on Wednesdays, which happen over Teams, so it doesn't make sense to be in the office to do that. I like to WFH on Mondays (I'm more productive at home and can more easily work a longer day at home to get stuff done) and Fridays (if the weather is nice I can finish at 4pm on flexi time and go straight into the weekend).

I like to be in the office when others are in so that we can bounce ideas around. So sticking to set days helps with this as my colleagues know when I'll be there.

I'm in the office Mon and Thur, WFH Tue and Fri. Wednesday off. Works out nicely.

I only work 3 days but have one in the office, usually a Monday. It works for us in terms of my husband's job and childcare.

motheroreily · 29/03/2022 19:29

Thank you this is really helpful. I requested 3 days at home which seems reasonable based on what other posters have said.

I work 4 day week.
2 of those in the office max. I always go on a tues and then thurs I pop in if I want to/need to but don't always go. It works well.

CatNamedEaster · 29/03/2022 19:38

I do 1 or 2 days in the office, but not set days, so I get the chance to see as many people as possible at least once a month.

If you don't have to have the pattern set, that can be quite nice so you get a good mix of quiet and busy days.

Useranon1 · 29/03/2022 19:38

I'm in the office three days and at home two. I started off just doing one day in the office last summer but were slowly getting more and more back to normal so needed in more often for meetings/events etc

Kaftankween · 29/03/2022 19:43

I think it’s worth thinking of work as an activity rather than a location. What do you want to achieve in the office (probably face to face meetings, catch ups, ideas generation etc). Work back from that if you can. Eg are others you want to talk to/learn from/meet with in on particular days as @SeaGlassBlue suggests.

Only one in the office @motheroreily, sorry not to reply earlier.
