Things to do in London!

I would love some ideas for things to do in London. I have a 12 year old who has ASD and is very young for his age and a 10 year old. We are staying in the Russell Street station area. Previously we have done;

  • Tower of LOndon
-Natural History museum -V&A -Shrek adventure world

I would like to do the British museum and have booked the London eye (which I am not optimistic about because DS1's reactions might be unpredictable).

I'd like to do a river cruise.

Just 2 days in London this time, and any ideas and suggestions I would be hugely grateful for!

Children are not into sports or physical activities and mainly love roblox and gaming.

many thanks. :)

Tower Bridge museum is small and fun. I always recommend the museum of London docklands because I think it's fab.

British museum gets unbearably rammed with people. You will struggle to see the Rosetta stone for all the people cramming round it.

There's a cartoon museum not far from the British museum which our children loved

*@SpringLobelia * my children always loved the Open Top bus tours, especially if we were lucky enough to a) sit on the top and b) get a fab commentator who really interacts with the kids. We used them instead of the tube to get from one place to another more easily. Obv not so good in the cold and wet but still fun!

If you do go to Greenwich and have time you could return on the DLR and get off at Canary Wharf / Heron Quay for the Museum of Docklands.

It’s a fun area to sit anyway, fountains, a pontoon etc. Nice place to sit and eat a sandwich. (There is an M&S by the DLR station in Greenwich)

Thank you all so much. The plans are definitely shaping up. :) i have decided to see if I can get a refund on the London eye. It currently looks like;

  • Science museum
-cinema -Terrible Thames river cruise -Thames clipper to Greenwich if the terrible Thames cruise goes well -milktraincafe -Nandos (both DCs like it and request when we go away!) -some sort of afternoon tea thing -then pursue some of the gaming specific ideas people kindly posted.

Oh and shopping. :)

I'll have to adapt as we go along based on tiredness levels but that seems like an excellent plan. :)

Thanks all.

Docklands Museum near Canary Wharf is good for children as it has a recreation of "Sailor Town" you can go in and out of plus various interactive activities on the ground floor in the mudlarks gallery - I'm not sure what the time slot position is post COVID so worth checking. You can get there on the DLR - good if you can get seats at the front as it is a driverless train and there are some family friendly restaurants around there too.

Terrible Thames is SO expensive! Over £90 for 4 of us for 45 minute trip.
Think we may do the clipper on reflection.

Tourist sites - Buckingham palace, changing of guards, Tralfer square
