I was looking at some old threads just yesterday and realised I’d been on here for 16 years. Was far more promiscuous back then visiting all sorts of boards like Sleb Twaddle and In the News. Spend my time on about 3 or 4 boards at most now (unless something interesting catches my eye on Active threads) Am a serial namechanger.

Do your sons still play cricket and lose things?!

TheBlessedCheesemaker · 28/03/2022 02:12

Do meet-ups still happen? Last meet up I went to was a crimbo gathering in a pub in Clerkenwell, circa 2007, when I was someone else on here, and when you ‘knew’ nearly everyone. Might have been earlier - was definitely before the Moldies shitfest, whenever that was. Them's were the days.

PAFMO · 28/03/2022 05:48

@echt

Been here since 2008, and for the most part under this name.

Haven't RTFT, but have bippertboppertyhat or Getorfymyland surfaced?

Bibbetybobbetyhat is still here under a different user name. Getorf sadly went to Twitter and never came back. She is possibly my favourite ever MNer that I have never met. We had such fun back in the day.

@ArtVandalay

Oh I loved that bat! Plus (was it FrannyandZooey?) with those bloody baskets.

Plus the 'real' stories - The woman whose husband died on 9/11 (motherofgirls or something like that), Misdee and her husband's heart transplant, BoF, Onlyjoking, the poster whose lovely daughter died of leukaemia, Ginderella and her dh... So many life stories that have stayed with me.

Yes. Kateandthegirls husband died in the twin towers. Some of us were given the log in to the port authority website to scroll through the photos they’d found in the litter to see if hid one of them was found.

Catthiefkeith another mnetter who has gone. So sad.

I still miss scottishmummy.

ginslinger · 28/03/2022 09:19

@iCod

It’s all different, and I don’t want to be an old fart and say negative stuff, but I Think that the #BeNice has been to the detriment of the wit of the site
Yep and now you have to say 'lighthearted' in case the hard of thinking come in and ambush you
ssd · 28/03/2022 09:41

Mn always had the professionally offended but there's more now than ever

meditrina · 28/03/2022 09:45

It's not so much more, it's rather that it's different. Instead of engaging with the subject in a - well - engaging* way, it's all slamming attacks into individuals.

If I read 'I'm embarrassed for you' one more time, I might post something bannable!

  • would have said witty, but MN hasn't unfortunately been that for yonks
ginslinger · 28/03/2022 09:47

oh god ssd sometimes it feels like the Professionally Offended Trade Union has its HQ here. Make a joke at your peril. God help us if we had hamster stew now or carrying a pomander around London

ginslinger · 28/03/2022 09:49

pomander

This a touch unnerving - first a Pandemic, then war in Europe and now Cod is back. Definitely feeling like the end of times.

I’ve been around since 2003, nice to see some familiar names.

Birdfooddirect · 28/03/2022 10:10

still miss scottishmummy.

Me too, with her precious moments 🤣

CountessDracula · 28/03/2022 10:17

I cannot believe there has been no explanation of what a piss troll is Shock

ArtVandalay · 28/03/2022 10:22

Do you remember the MN scarf? I still have 2. Also the poster who recommended the Waitrose baby bottom butter (but for your face) and we all went and bought it. Except it transpired she was joking.

Birdfooddirect · 28/03/2022 10:41

Oh, I bought it, it was lovely 🤣

ssd · 28/03/2022 10:55

I remember someone recommended how to do the mn haircut. I did it. Never again, as i said at the time i looked like Hamble from playschool.

Yep, I still have mine!
ginslinger · 28/03/2022 11:20

I still put my divider on length ways at the supermarket - there was a thread about it and I can't remember what it was about but it became a secret signal

ArtVandalay · 28/03/2022 11:26

Lol at Hamble from Playschool.

When posters were demonstrating they were not trolls, they’d authenticate themselves by saying ‘cube of poo, naice ham, tiny Korean lady… ’ Grin
