"Raab, the deputy prime minister and justice secretary, has argued that the plan will better protect the press in exposing wrongdoing and said he feared free speech was being “whittled away” by “wokery and political correctness”.
Raab told the Daily Mail that under plans being drawn up for the bill of rights, there would be only limited restrictions placed on the protections on free speech with checks to stop people abusing it to promote terrorism."
So he fears free speech is being whittled away by wokery..
How will they word a free speech bill?
If a TV pundit discusses Russian propaganda on TV and faces consequences, would they say that they have the right to Free Speech and sue someone who denied them their right to free speech?
If someone is overtly mysognistic on a TV show and faces consequences, will they be able to sue and say they had Free Speech.
It's very easy to say that free speech should trump "woke" - but I am intrigued to see how it gets worded without there being unintended consequences.
I know that the USA has something in their consitution about Free Speech being an inalienable right and that gives people a lot more rights to do stuff in the name of free speech.
