13 month old does pull to stand or crawl or move from lying to sitting up

13 month old doesn't pull to stand or crawl or even push back onto her knees if she is on her front. She just lies on her stomach and goes round in circles but won't push back into the typical 'crawling position'
She sits and walks with a walker and cruises well but doesn't do the other stuff.
I asked the HV and she's not worried but I am! Does anyone have any similar experiences to this?
I do lots of things to encourage these things but nothing really works. I also go to groups as well so she does see other children,
She's quite a laid back baby and so this may be the reason but I am concerned. She's my first child. Is there a private assessment that can be done that anyone is aware or or am I worrying needlessly.

My friend apparently rolled around the floor until she was 18 months old, and then she just started crawling one day and never looked back. They all develop at their own pace; you can always contact your GP too if you’re still worried.

Oh please stop worrying. 13 months is so young. Your baby won't be the first to be crawling along down the pub when they're 18, honestly.

How much time does she spend in the walker op, and at what age did she start using it?

Sorry she isn't in the walker she is pushing one around.

If she doesn't pull to stand, how does she get into a position to cruise? Do you stand her?
You could ask for a physio assessment to ensure she has full range of movement in her hips and her knees? Lots of things like row row row your boat would ensure she has strength in her arms and her core. You could also try putting cushions under her tummy to encourage 4point kneeling.

Highlandrainbows · 26/03/2022 06:46

Does she bumshuffle? I never crawled, just bumshuffled apparently!

Yes it's when I put her in a standing position she does it. She's really quick at cruising and will walk with one hand. I don't mind if she skips crawling really but the pulling to stand and non movement from sitting is what is concerning me. I do lots of row row your boat and cushions under her to encourage the crawling position but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I've done this for months now. So yes I may need to get a physio assessment but HV said they wouldn't look at this until 18-24 months 🤦‍♀️

No she literally just sits there. On her front she will turn in circles but it's with her literally laying on her front like a fish out of water! She doesn't push her bum up to go on her knees

This is going to sound really strange but my daughter didn't really "get" crawling until I used a sling to help. Do you have a soft/stretchy material one? So I put it under her to support her belly and chest (mine is fairly wide) then held the ends and gently lifted her into crawling position by pulling up to lift her belly and chest then almost walked her using the sling Blush so she used her hands and legs to kinda coordinate a crawling motion without having to worry about lifting herself up. After doing that couple of days intermittently it seemed to click for her and she started pushing into that position herself to start crawling.

I read about it on here as something to try, might be worth a go? Guess could use something else if don't have a sling to hand? Shouldn't be too narrow as don't want to put too much pressure on belly, etc. And you can always contact your heath visitor if any concerns

Icecreamandapplepie · 26/03/2022 07:51

There's a reason they won't investigate until 18 months Confused

Try and chill out a bit more and enjoy your baby

Thanks for the advice I'll try this

I do enjoy her, I'm just asking if anyone had anything similar

My dd never crawled, she'd roll around the room. Then one day she just pulled herself up on the side, and walked. She was 14 months

physwizz · 26/03/2022 12:46

@asdfghjkl13 as tempting as it is to place her in standing at walker and to cruise, I would stop.

Just encourage her with toys and objects just slightly out of reach. She'll be frustrated but she will do it in the end.

Once you let her work it out she'll be flying.

If you keep doing it for her she's got no reason to work it out for herself

Rowgtfc72 · 26/03/2022 12:49

Dd didn't do anything other than sit or lay. If you put her in a door bouncer or held her up she'd pull her feet up.
One day when she was 17 months old she just got up and walked across the room.
She was also a first and chilled baby.

Wotrewelookinat · 26/03/2022 16:04

DD1 was similar. She sat and stayed put until about 16 months, wouldn’t even crawl, and only started weight bearing and cruising at 18 months. When I tried to get her to stand she’d point her toes then sit back down! She’s a VERY active sporty 17 year old now. Her sister started walking at 14months of age. I would just give her a bit more time.
