Recommendation for high sleeper

Morph22010 · 25/03/2022 06:30

Any recommendations for high sleeper for 11 year old. Main thing we want is that it’s not an absolute nightmare to out together and likely to cause a divorce. Not a big room so want one that’s not too wide. Not overly bothered a out lots of things underneath as already have seperate drawers and desk, just want the space really

IKEA. Everything else is a nightmare to put together.

My DS (12) has this one in his small single bedroom. It has a desk underneath and we used the extra floor space for his keyboard and a futon type settee for his friends to hang out in his room.

When I Google them the ikea one I wanted came up as the hardest to put together so I stayed away!!

We got ours here:
www.mrsflatpack.co.uk/

It does the job and was a good price. I paid a man to put it together for me....I knew I would be too big for me to do alone and husband has an allergy to instructions - written or verbal. So to save us I paid him £50 and he did I with help from me.

What will the space be used for?
Only that sometimes you loose space as they can’t then use the bed to easily sit on with friends when over.

So maybe a lower bed that can still be sat on that has drawers underneath, then ditch the drawers for space might be better. Also easier to change bedding. Then you can also add higher shelves above bottom of bed for more storage.

IKEA sell several singles with drawers

Main reason I asks if cus friends had the metal high sleeper from IKEA we were thinking of getting and said it was a nightmare to put together, they said they nearly divorced over it lol! Apparently the holes didn’t line up well, not sure if it’s cus it’s metal so less give

Hes autistic so doesn’t really have friends over will be used just for storage. Currently has a mid sleeper which is fine but some of the slats have now broken so thought it might be time to upgrade and go for a high sleeper rather than a mid sleeper

Ours is from Argos it's a wooden one I can't remember the name sorry.it was easy to put together very sturdy and lots of space underneath.

Morph22010 · 25/03/2022 06:48

The drawers are already under the mid sleeper so there isn’t room for them seperately in room if we got a standard bed

Yes something similar to that is what I want, how was it to put together?

We have a fitted wardrobe in the room so don’t need wardrobe space although I may have to measure length of room to make sure bed doesn’t block off the wardrobe, currrently have a small gap where we can open

Ah I meant get rid of those drawers and buy something like this

www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/slaekt-bed-frame-w-storage-slatted-bedbase-white-s29291956/

Otherwise. From memory, any high sleepers made of metal creak more due to the metal rubbing at joints. So wooden probably better.

That’s an idea. That would be ok for the drawers then could maybe put up some higher shelves like on pic. I also have a storage units with baskets under bed but wondering if we could get rid of some of the stuff in there

The problem is everything else is worse. I don't know how/why but they manage to be the most incomprehensible things ever.

We ended up getting DS1 an ikea one but from FB marketplace so it had already been made up and taken apart before.
