Easter egg hunt/party for older kids

I'm hosting an Easter egg hunt/party for friends (6 of us) and kids (6 kids). We are all good friends and the kids are best pals. We used to have an Easter egg hunt at alternate houses over the years but haven't done this for the last two years due to covid. Now we are doing it again and suddenly the kids are two years older and I'm struggling for ideas to keep them happy and busy. They are aged between 8 to 12.
I want to make a big effort as I love Easter and am so happy about us doing this again after 2 years. Any ideas? I've had a look on Pinterest but I'm still a bit stuck. Looking for ideas for food and activities. Thanks

Cryptic clues to find the eggs
Crime scene investigation... who stole the eggs?

I'm our house we play Easter bingo. Everyone coming brings a couple of extra Easter eggs for the prizes, some big, some small or quirky.

It great fun and even the adults join in so great for all ages and can get quite competitive for the desirable eggs.

Do you all live nearby? Last year kids in our street (6--10) did an Easter egg hunt between the different gardens so they were running back and forth for ages and there were clues for each one

These are great thanks. Agree clues to find the eggs sounds brilliant. We don't live that close but yes the kids would love running between the houses I'd imagine!

We play an egg throwing game.

All names in a hat and draw out to get pairs of people.
Each person stands facing their partner, so that everyone is in two long lines facing each other.
Each pair has a raw chicken's egg. One throws the egg to their partner who aims to catch it. Then everyone takes a step back and the egg is thrown back. And repeat the stepping and throwing. (Make sure everyone steps and throws at the same time)

If your egg breaks you and you partner are out. Last pair standing wins.

We do a sort of insane obstacle course scavenger hunt Easter egg hunt, so there are clues, plus requirements. Eg one clue will lead them to the climbing frame, they have to climb across it to get to the next clue which leads them to the blackboard wall where they have to draw a picture of a bunny etc etc.

Instead of those kiddie hollow Easter eggs people always use for an egg hunt, use actual Cadbury caramel eggs, Aero eggs, Crème eggs and give them real egg boxes to collect in to take home.. and whoever fills theirs first is the winner (they can swap their favourites with each other later Smile)

We do hunts with clues.

Depends on the age of the children and the year what exactly we do.

My favourite was the year we sent them out on scooters to get the clue.

So the clue might read:

Number 2 Westbery Road. House name letter number 3.
So they'd go to Westbery Road, find the house name "Witsend" and have a T.
They then had to put all the letters together and mix them up to find where the eggs were hidden.
Took them about 2-3 hours of peace for us Grin

Other years we've done a hunt (clue one leads to clue 2 etc) where clues are basic ("window" "door") or more cryptic, or in codes (like one in mirror writing, one in a =1, b =2 etc).
Or hidden the clues around the place and they have to find 26 clues, all of which have a maths question on. The answer gives them a letter from a grid and then they get given a code letter to read. That was their favourite.
