Sky glass - anyone got it?

I was thinking of going back to Sky so was thinking of Sky Q but Sky Glass is all over their website and I can feel myself being swayed.

Has anyone gone for Sky Glass? What it's like? Is the lack of recording a problem? I don't record loads of stuff but it's the lack of hard drive that's making me think twice.

Any other pros/cons you've found would be helpful too!

The price is ridiculous in comparison with a smart TV of another brand..

You would also feel obliged to stick with Sky for years if you decide to take their interest free option of 48(!!!!) Months.

Good point. I get too easily swayed by new shiny things!

You'd have to swap every tv to sky glass as you do away with your box and dish.

I don't like the fact that you'd be streaming your TV rather than watching it via a dish. If your broadband goes down, no TV.

ApocalypseNowt · 22/03/2022 21:15

We only have tv in one room so that's not an issue for us.

That's my main problem with it 23 - wanted to hear from people who've got it....see if it's a big problem or mildly annoying

We had a Sky engineer here yesterday fixing a problem with our dish. He mentioned a recent call out to someone who'd had no broadband for 3 days and therefore no TV for 3 days.

See with the dish set up, if the TV goes off you can stream it via a laptop instead and HDMI it to your TV. If your broadband goes off, you've still got TV. With Sky Glass you'd have nothing until the broadband is fixed.

What do you want to watch on sky? Is it on now TV?

Benes · 22/03/2022 21:33

It really depends on your set up at home.
We have Sky glass but only because we can't get a sky dish due to where we live/position of our house.

So for us, Sky glass was a major step up from our previous set up. It works really well and we've had no issues. However, if you're able to get Sky Q I believe that is much better.

We have the Sky glass tv in the living room and multi room using something that plugs into our existing tv's .... so you don't need a new tv for every room!

Glad to see this thread, found myself being tempted.

We had a set for 2 days and decided it wasn't for us. There are a few things that need ironing out before we would consider it in the future. The first one and major one for husband and son(online gamers) is as it runs on the WiFi it reduces bandwidth for them to game/download. You use voice commands to change channels and it either doesn't understand you or listens to your conversations and repeats what is said (a bit big brother!!). You are no longer able to watch the free to view channels. It was quite expensive to buy and rather disappointing. The other issue was getting a refund for the TV and service which took over 6 weeks. Hope this helps.

I briefly considered, but having been without broadband for 12 days a counting of the last month due being rural it's not for us.

Me too, that's why I looked into it! Went for basic sky Q in the end!
