Can you claim UC on mat leave?

It’s been suggested to me by my hv in passing that I should claim but I didn’t know you could?

My mat pay is 6 months full pay, 3 months stat and the last 3 unpaid.
B
DH earns 55k a year.

HV said I could get it from when my pay drops to smp and then no pay? I’ve googled but i can’t find any info on it? I’ve done the benefits calculator but it’s based on my annual income if I was working full time and it says entitled to nothing which isn’t a surprise.

Anyone?

Unless you rent and your rent is very high you will probably be over the threshold for UC based on your husband's income.

Go on entitled to and check but almost certainly not

Unless you have several other children /children with disabilities/very high rent then no.

Do you rent?

gamerchick · 21/03/2022 16:14

Your husband is on 55k. I don't think the threshold is that high.

Viviennemary · 21/03/2022 16:15

I doubt it very much going from what your DH earns. Even if your rent is high.

Hercisback · 21/03/2022 16:15

Yes you can but your husbands earnings will push you over the limit.

Bluffysummers · 21/03/2022 16:40

I thought so!

I have two children with no additional needs and we have a mortgage.

Out of curiosity what’s the upper threshold limit for partners income? Wondering if I could have claimed with my first when he earned 45?

No. Your husbands income is way to high.

Depends on your situation but when I was on May leave my DH earned around £45k, we owned our own house with a mortgage and we had too high an income for UC so unlikely you would have been able to.
OnlyFoolsnMothers · 21/03/2022 16:43

Nope your husbands income is way too high- it would be too high at 45k too

Bluffysummers · 21/03/2022 16:46

Ah thats good to know would be a bit annoyed if I missed out

No, a 45k income is still too high. I'm a single mum earning £13k and I only get around £430pm in benefits.
