Neighbours from hell

Ok, I am aware there worse ones but they are the worst I’ve ever had.

To start with, can I please ask for advise on what to do about them, as I haven’t had to deal with something like this before.

One of the flats in my block is occupied by a very young couple, they look 19-20 to me, and have a toddler. They’ve lived here for well over a year now, and have made our lives miserable. They smoke weed and stink up the entire property, and seem to have a fighting match about twice a week. It’s usually her that is really loud, screaming and banging day or night. I’ve woken up in the middle of the night so many times and I don’t even live next door to them. I and other neighbours called the police several times, nothing came out of it, complained to the managing agents, again no success, their landlord has been informed and again, no success. They were meant to move out, people came to see the flat but in all honesty, who in their right mind would want to rent a place that reeks of weed and has a broken front door?

And on top of this, I am beyond amazed how despite the fact that they manage to wake all the neighbours up their child never makes a noise.

Please help!!!

Have you tried talking to them? Maybe they don't realise how loud they are being and that they are waking people up.

No, apart from saying hello to them I haven’t spoken to them. But they do realise how loud they are, since the police show up at their door every time asking them to keep it down. If they were fined for disturbing the neighbours I bet they would keep it down eventually. Others seem to think they do it on purpose to get council accommodation, but some of the stuff I’ve seen them do would be too much for them to act. I won’t tell on here as it is quite outing but I am not exaggerating when I say one of them will get really hurt one day if they carry on like that.

Awful neighbours can be a nightmare and I would advise keeping a diary of events to present to the landlord but don't have any real practical advice on what can be done sorry.

I wanted to comment as it is actually really chilling that you have mentioned their child remains silent/quiet when they are screaming, fighting and banging so loud it wakes the neighbours. I would expect to hear some crying if a child had been woken by the noise and are frightened and overtired. Please consider phoning social services as a matter of urgency just so they can do a safeguarding check.

If you call the police again also mention a young child lives in the property, the police may already know this but just in case it has been overlooked it is worth mentioning.

@SunburstsOrMarbleHalls thank you for your reply, I have mentioned to the police there is a kid in there, they actually ask on the phone as well when you call them; that’s why I think they’re being useless. And one person in the buildings management owns a few flats so you’d think they’d be more proactive.
