Calling all scientists and those good at rhyming!

I need to explain Down’s syndrome and chromosomes in a few rhyming sentences.

Can anyone help?

This so what I have so far:

The baby is special, a gift sent down from heaven.
We have 46 chromosomes , but he has 47.

Each cell that is inside us, is far too small to see.
You need a microscope to look up close,
Something here!

Info I’d like to include:

People with Down syndrome have 47 chromosomes in each of the cells in their body. Most other people have 46. Babies have these even before they are born. Did you know that your body is made up of cells? Even in children there are trillions of cells! They’re very tiny. They are so tiny that you need a microscope to see them. Inside these cells there are even tinier things called chromosomes. These carry the plan which tells our bodies how to grow. People with Down syndrome have an extra copy of chromosome number 21. Having the extra chromosome 21 makes the growing plan work differently to other people.

You need a microscope to look up close because,
... they are tiny and wee
.. they are smaller than a flea

All of us are made of cells from our heads down to our toes
We start as one and split and split and that is how babies grow.

The cells have instructions in on how to make organs like the heart.
People with down syndrome have a special extra part.

Geneticsbunny · 20/03/2022 11:12

The extra part is a chromosome called chromosome 21.
It makes the plan to build a baby a bit different but still gets the job done.

Am I getting a citation for this?

Each cell that is inside us, is far too small to see.
But contains all of the instructions that makes up you and me.

Some very special babies have an extra chromosome.
If you love one of these babies you will understand my poem

Inside these tiny, tiny cells even smaller things call home,
The building blocks for your whole body, we call them chromosomes.

I assume this is for Downs Syndrome Awareness tomorrow?
We do odd socks at ours.

I would avoid the special gift from heaven bit.

None of the parents I know with disabled children believe that crap or they are special parents chosen to raise special kids.

We are just parents who happen to be parenting disabled children.

I like the idea of scientific information about chromosomes etc.

We are born the same as you with a different genetic view
Chromosomes a plenty throughout our dna
An extra number 21 then comes into play.

This extra chromosome makes itself at home
This means I am born with Down's syndrome.
