What's your solution for keeping hair off your face when walking/running?

I have thick, unruly hair, collarbone length, that won't stay in a ponytail, pigtails or any kind of grip or clip if I go for a long walk (or do anything which involves getting warm/sweaty). It frizzes up and escapes everything.

A woolly hat has worked fine all winter, although my head is pin-sized so even a hat slips off and I have to keep pulling it back on.

Thin sports headbands and elastic yoga type hairbands slip off, or the top layers of my hair just bend double over them and flop forward into my eyes.

I bought 4 Hygge headbands, 2 of each length, but I have to jam bobby pins/kirby grips all around to stop them unravelling and looking like some form of wimpole before they simply pop right off my head.

Plastic Alice bands that end behind your ears aren't bad but tend to be uncomfortable.

A baseball cap is a bit too hot in summer and I also wear glasses, so a peak just makes my glasses steam up.

Any ideas that have worked for you if you are hot and menopausal with springy hair, glasses and a small head? I do sweat a lot from my head, in summer the sweat runs right out of my ponytail. Blush

I bought some really good jersey rolls from White Stuff. They're really tight and seem to grip round your hairline really well, then you can wear around your neck like a scarf. Think they're 2 for £20?

I do 2 plaits although have long hair. I find that for about 8 months of the year hats or bands of most kinds make my head way too hot and sweaty. I wear big over the ear headphones to keep my ears warm and stop me getting earache.
Any way you could get it at least partway plaited, at least the top section?

A kids buff chopped into two (makes two bands!). It's a bit tighter than an adult one so stays on better and considerably longer than a conventional hairband.

Prior to chopping it in half I used to just run with the buff as a wimpole (it worked!).

Hygge band and ponytail here too.

Accordion headbands. Cheap and cheerful. Work well for my flyaway hair.

I gave up and went for a pixie cut, as I can't be doing with hair in my face, and there's always a bit that drifts out of whatever is containing it.
Like Babdoc I wash it first thing and it's dry in no time.
Wish I'd done it years ago! ( I also did it to embrace the grey )

That’s me Grin. I just have a ponytail in and straggly bits around my face. Adding texture with sea salt spray tends to help me keep a bobble in better.

So many new ideas, thanks so much!

The wind around here (east coast) still wrenches my hair out from under crossed kirby grips, but I note two suggestions for tying 6-8 ponytails at the front first. Now that is a good shout (if I haven't chucked out the pack of non-slip mini hair ties that bounce right out of my hair).

French plait idea is great but a) it's the broken hairs and new growth (I lost a load after covid) at the hairline that creep out to do their own thing tickle my face and irritate the crap out of me and don't stay in, and b) my fingers are not very dextrous.

I'm so sad that the usual Buffs and Hygge bands don't work for me, I really thought they'd be the answer. I think I have a small head and not very a very pronounced bump at the back, a ponytail helps to a point but even if I manage to stretch it across my forehead it still just unravels up over my crown. I think I'm going to cut them and make new headbands with them!

Oh I love the Buff visor, that'll work as long as the steaming up doesn't become a problem - happens less without the cold winds in the summer.
