Pure white quartz work top - stains and marks?

The kitchen fitter has warned us off it. He says he'll happily fit it but that it marks easily (kettle cords mark it, for example), and although fairly easily cleaned can have a tendency to get scruffy. He says that flecked worktops are more practical, but we were keen on pure white. Does anyone have experience of this?

Thanks everyone. My head is a bit scrambled by this - some very conflicting views! Maybe the key is to get the Italian stuff. Better get a second job Grin

It's not that the fitter CBA. He has recommended quartz with a fleck to hide the marks.

To the poster who recommended corian, apparently it's more expensive than quartz and not as hard wearing which put us off a bit.

We've got white quartz with a fleck (inherited). It brightens up the north facing kitchen very well, looks very good but it has gone a bit brown near the sink - not dark, but a patch that isn't pristine.
Turmeric is also a complete pain - I cook a lot of curry. But the fleck does disguise it.

We also inherited a white kitchen floor Hmm.

My mums got a white worktop, had it about 6 years, they've had no problems with it, no marks/stains or anything. And that's with my dad being a very messy cook! The only thing they regret is the black sink! And I think they may not have chosen a white floor if they had properly thought about it 😂

We have white quartz and live in a hard water area.

We have limescale round the taps but all other marks are easy to remove. I have only used water and the Method Granite cleaner to clean the surfaces.. Does anyone have any ideas on how to remove the limescale?
