Breastfeeding and inverted nipple surgery

I’m wandering if anyone can help me. About 8 years ago I had surgery to correct my inverted nipples. The surgeon said the milk ducts should stay intact. I have had my first baby almost a week ago and am really struggling with breastfeeding. I tried to express colostrum and didn’t have any luck so thought I wouldn’t be able to do it but now my breasts feel really heavy and sore like my milk has come in but nothing seems to be coming out the nipple. I just purchased an electric pump and used it for the first time for about 20 mins but nothing came out. Is there anything else I can do to try and get some breast milk out?

I realise you wrote this is march. How is feeding going?
I could've wrote this myself I had invested nipple correction 7 years before my son was born and the milk came in but I couldn't express any out. I saw a few drops on a nipple shield after feeding him but he had a tongue tie and latch issues so I gave up.

Now thinking about second baby and I really want to bf but I don't think it would be possible.

Hi ladies. I realise this is quite an old thread but I am in a very similar situation and wondered how you both got on? I had the correction surgery about ten years ago . At the time the surgeon said there are 2 ways of doing the procedure and one should allow breastfeeding but was more likely the nipples wouldn’t remain corrected or the other would definitely not allow breastfeeding but the nipples should never return to inverted/flat. Anyway, I opted for the one which ought to allow breastfeeding but with my first I had major supply issues and had to ff. I hoped the surgery was unrelated and I’d have more luck with a second child, but now I have had my little daughter and once again, my milk came in (really heavy, engorged boobs) but then hardly anything has been able to get out - through pump or baby. Once again, it looks like I’ve no choice but to formula feed and I’m a bit gutted to be honest. I am certain it’s down to the surgery….
