tyre pressure warning light staying on

DH bought DC2 a 2014 Vauxhall Corsa, with the tyre pressure warning light on, confident that once we sorted the tyres it would out.

We've had two new tyres put on and the others checked by the tyre garage but we can't get the light to stop being active.

Any ideas please?

TIA

Did you reset it when you were at the correct pressure?

I have an Astra that would have to go back to the Vauxhall garage every time to have the light reset. Which was a pita because the stupid valves leak and the air drops constantly. Would go from 35psi to 25psi in a week. I’d buy new valves and they’d be ok for a couple of months and then back to square one.

Anyway. There was some sort of software update and now the light resets by itself once tyres are back at correct pressure without me having to do anything. So I’d recommend a trip to the Vauxhall garage and ask about a software update. Otherwise you’ll just need to get used to driving around with the light on or plan weekly trips to Vauxhall. The bloody tyres are the bane of my life. I was literally out there blowing them all up ten mins ago and they were done a week ago!

On my car you have to reset it once you've sorted the tyre pressure, it doesn't go off automatically. Google it, there's usually a youtube video telling you how to do it!

Thanks for responding. Yes, the garage reset it after they'd put the new tyres on and checked the other two. When it didn't stay out, they looked up on a Vauxhall Owners on line forum and that said that sometimes the car needs to be driven at higher speed for the light to reset.

Vauxhall themselves are saying it might be the sensors on the tyres that are faulty and they want £99 just to look at it and then it'd be another £70 approx to fix if it is a tyre sensor.

We had the with the adblue light on our Peugeot it did eventually just dreary itself after a couple of weeks.

If you’re confident the tyres are fine then I’d drive it with the light on for a week or so to see if it corrects.

Reset not dreary!

QuebecBagnet · 17/03/2022 14:29

Yes, my local garage couldn’t reset it. It needed to be Vauxhall.

But a new valve only costs me anywhere between £12 and £24 to have fitted depending which garage I go to (none of them Vauxhall) so £70 for Vauxhall to look at it is terrible! Does your car tell you the psi of the tyres as well as the warning light? If so I’d go off that and just ignore the light.

We had similar on our criterion, replaced the sensors themselves didn’t solve it. In the end had to replace the wing mirror as that’s where the electrics to it are housed and that solved it but at huge expense.

Also the best £40 I ever spent was a tyre inflator thing from B&q. Plugs into the cigarette lighter and inflates my tyres. But importantly when you attach it it tells you the pressure of the tyre. So if you get one you can see what the actual pressure is and then know if the pressure minitoring valve is faulty or not. You don’t need to give Vauxhall £90 to tell you this.

Thank you all
I’ve just ordered one of those now from Aldi Grin

Depends on the car. I bought my Vauxhall from a Toyota dealer and it had a warning light on when I did the test drive. They told me they had to take it to Vauxhall as only Vauxhall could reset it. Something to do with codes. Sounded a bit odd to me.
