Chickenpox etiquette

DD (2.5) has chicken pox. Her baby brother (12m) hasn't come out in spots or anything yet. Keeping her off nursery as per NHS guidelines but not really clear if I should be keeping him off too? I know the incubation period is as much as 3 weeks, but I can't really be keeping him off for the next 3 weeks waiting for spots that may not appear, but also don't want to be a dick sending him off to infect the rest of nursery.

You don’t need to get her brother off nursery it’s fine. She can go back once her spots have crusted over, normally around day 5.

I would definitely send and would not be annoyed if my DC caught chicken pox from your DS in this situation. It's just one of those things, you can only do so much.

Yeah you don't need to keep him off

Ok thanks, that's helpful. I assume she caught it at nursery from someone who hadn't come out in spots yet. Can't get too worked up about it, it's annoying but she's fine other than a bit spotty. Her cousin has caught it too and getting slight blamey vibes off SIL but it's just life innit.

Chickenpox is at its most contagious prior to spots appearing.
