What is statutory noise nuisance

Please help we're being accused of slamming doors
I don't slam the door but I'm terrified that it will be classed as slamming when it's investigated

Do you know why the police are pandering to and providing your neighbours with a noise device if you made the first complaint about harassment (and have made further reports)? It doesn't sound very fair to you.

@CurbsideProphet

Do you know why the police are pandering to and providing your neighbours with a noise device if you made the first complaint about harassment (and have made further reports)? It doesn't sound very fair to you.
It's the council on the sound complaint. And they don't want to know anything about any harassment complaint you may have made to the police.
BlanketsBanned · 17/03/2022 14:02

Its the council who install the sound recorder not the police. I would put in your own and also a soft close hinge. Have the council written to you about this.

purpleme12 · 17/03/2022 14:12

Are these soft close hinges for external doors?

The council wrote to us months ago. (This report to council was in amongst lots of other things they did to us/our property and other malicious (lies) reports as well)
And this time the police came to see us
So I'm not sure if this time he rang the police to put a harassment claim against us for noise?

Yes the hinges are for external doors. Its the environmental health dept at the council who deal with noise complaints, if the letter is months old and you havent heard anything from them since then maybe there is nothing to worry about. Why dont you call the council a d ask for an update or the police officer who was dealing with the other issues to put your mind at rest.

purpleme12 · 17/03/2022 14:47

I know it's true unfortunately (and they'd do anything to get at us so makes sense)
The police said that environmental health will install a recording device
I presume this is because everyone's report has to be looked into

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 17/03/2022 14:55

I will have a look at these hinges anyway

Spoke to police again
The reason they're involved is because the neighbour cited they're being 'harassed' by the 'noise'
If they hadn't claimed 'harassment' police wouldn't have got involved it would just be environmental health or whoever

Another complaint about 'doors slamming' yesterday morning
We only went out the door to go to school?

BlanketsBanned · 17/03/2022 22:17

I think you need to speak to the police, this is ridiculous, do you slam the door shut or close it quietly.

purpleme12 · 17/03/2022 22:18

I close it normally
I don't slam it I've got no reason to

I have spoken to the police. They've come to see me. That's how I know all of this

OP posts:
BlanketsBanned · 17/03/2022 22:24

So,the neighbour calls the police every time you shut the door, thats mad. Just ignore him and let the police and eh deal with him.

purpleme12 · 17/03/2022 22:27

I'm worried now he'll slam the door to his outbuilding cos that's further away from his house and they'll say that's me or something

OP posts:
Readyforspring · 17/03/2022 22:34

Set up q video recorder towards your door to prove if its u or them doing it.

purpleme12 · 18/03/2022 14:08

Should I see a solicitor??
What will they be able to do??

Some people think neighbours who make any noise are being a nuisance and will complain. But the bar is actually quite high. My old neighbours got the council involved because of my dog barking. He does bark, he's a dog. Even that didn't meet the threshold as he wasn't left to bark for hours on end. He just barked if someone came to the door or if he saw a squirrel.

So try not to worry. Some people just don't understand that they only get silence if the live in the middle of nowhere.

purpleme12 · 18/03/2022 14:51

I'm trying so hard not to worry but it's not really working

OP posts:
BlanketsBanned · 18/03/2022 15:48

What is it that you are so worried about, what do you think is going to happen. you can prove you dont slam the doors with a camera and use soft hinges. Do you own or rent your house. This has obviously caused you an awful lot of stress but he has harrassed you in the past and the police know that,

balalake · 18/03/2022 17:02

When you leave the house, do you drive with your children to school? There will be an invisible dog or cat running across the road on a number of occasions when you pass his house, and of course you will need to sound your horn loudly so as not to harm this invisible dog.

purpleme12 · 19/03/2022 16:58

Unfortunately I don't drive her!

There were 2 motions on the doorbell while were out today.
Both had what sounded like a slam right at the start
It makes me suspicious it's them and they're going to pretend it's us...

OP posts:
BlanketsBanned · 19/03/2022 17:25

What doorbell picked this up

purpleme12 · 19/03/2022 18:32

Ring one on the front door

OP posts:
BlanketsBanned · 19/03/2022 18:35

Thats great then if you were out and it picked up a slamming noise. He may have been asked to keep a diary of the dates and times and you have evidence you were out.m

purpleme12 · 19/03/2022 20:58

Just heard him ranting about us things like I'll kill them
But too late to get a video of it
I don't know whether to report it now cos I've not got proof and they're trying to being it round on us
