Toileting boys! Dribbly boys!

I posted this in “potty training” yesterday, and it’s remained quiet, after another dribbling incident this evening whilst my mother in law was here and passed a typical savage comment, I have reposted it here

Hello Mumsnet, it’s been a while but I need some advice so here I am!

DN lives with us and potty trained unexpectedly well at 2y10m. Lots of praise and stickers, super proud of the wee lad!
He then had 2 excellent, predominantly dry months. Continued praise!

However; in the last few weeks he has started having dribbly accidents in the evenings between tea time and supper/bedtime. Not soak through wees, but if I take him to the toilet, I will find a damp patch; even if we take him to the toilet every 45 minutes. He seems utterly oblivious.
It isn’t every night but I feel it’s increased in frequency. No accidents or dribbles ever; including all at day care.

I spoke to the GP incase it might be something untoward and no experience here as dd was either wet or dry, (no in between) who said as dn was only dribbling st this time of day; and as he’s the father of 4 boys, dn was likely aware of the dribbles but being tired/lazy about going.

Obviously I am not making a big deal of it with dn, but any reassurance for me that he will grow out of it, it’s normal for a just 3 year old boy would be wonderful.

Many thanks

My 4 year old does this. He has urology/nephrology issues and I've been told to "chill" by both his Drs at hospital. Hopefully that reassures you a little that it's normal, especially when they're a little younger.

@YouBoggleMyMind Thank you! That is reassuring. I have no boy experience at all! Our GP is very aware of DN’s background so I would have hoped if it could have been anything untoward he would have flagged it up earlier rather than later as he has done with another issue.

It's very hit and miss, doesn't happen every day but he isn't without wet patches regularly. A lot of the time it's cos he needs to go to the toilet and doesn't go. If we ever see a wet patch we send him straight for a wee.

I think that’s DN’s issue, he needs to go but doesn’t; mainly because he’s tired and occupied by something else
