I think you need to define what exciting means to you!

I love my job and get excited about aspects of it but it others will find it deathly dull!

Nothankyouv · 15/03/2022 10:38

@SpinsForGin exciting is different for everyone so I mean if you personally find your job exciting, then what do you do Smile

I'm a university academic.
I'm also a qualified careers adviser and have worked in careers and in career development roles. I now train people to be careers advisers and carry out research on career development ( specifically women's career development)

Not me, but a friend is a stunt coordinator in film & TV.

We always think her job sounds mega-exciting, but according to her, apparently it really just involves a lot of risk assessments and insurance paperwork. Be careful, as they say, what you wish for. Grin

People think my job is exciting. I’m a police officer.

Occasionally it is exciting. 95% of the time it’s red tape, frustration and social work.

LexieLoos · 15/03/2022 12:38

@SpinsForGin how did you get in to the careers adviser/career development aspect, if you don't mind me asking?

I don't mind at all!
I did an MA in Career Guidance and Development and then worked as a careers adviser in a school and then moved into working in higher education. There are also L4 and L6 qualifications but I'd recommend doing L6 or above as that is often an essential criteria for jobs.
There is a huge skills shortage of careers advisers at the moment.

www.thecdi.net is a great place to start!

I work in marketing for a tech company.

Probably not that exciting to most people, but we’re working on some really innovative projects that will hopefully shape the entire future of work… so it’s exciting to me! Grin

@SpinsForGin Perfect, thank you so much!
Been feeling a bit meh about my career path at the moment and I think this may be the sign I needed!

I find my job exciting even though I work from home. i edit books. Never know what I'll be sent next, what it's about or what the author will be like to work with. I really enjoy that sense of newness every couple of weeks.
