Trampolines - would this be safe?

We have a 3.5 year old who is a human version of tigger. He'd love a trampoline. But we also have an 18 month old who loves bouncing.

Would a 6 or 8ft trampoline be safe for them to be on together? We'd obviously have a net

No. Trampolines really should be used by one person at a time, especially at those ages.

Ifeellikedancing · 14/03/2022 14:01

One at a time on trampolines.Get the bigger one though, it will last longer.

LaraDeSalle · 14/03/2022 14:03

Two small children colliding with each other with no control where they will bounce- what could possible go wrong?

Done let them get on it together.

Don’t ^

And Male sure you place it where it is not intrusive to your neighbours.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 14/03/2022 14:06

OK thanks. Will have to weigh up whether it's worth the inevitable tantrums about taking turns.

No, one at a time on any trampoline. Recipe for disaster otherwise, especially with two little ones who don’t have a great deal of control of their bodies at the best of times!

Readyforspring · 14/03/2022 14:09

Its meant to be one at a time however my kids and families kids often all go in together. Touch wood no accidents so far. Kids from 2 years to 12.

ChuckBerrysBoots · 14/03/2022 14:12

Get the biggest size you can accommodate. Ours went on together for years (and there’s a much bigger age difference) without significant incident. Counting down the days until I can dismantle and get rid of the monstrosity from the garden though!

nearlyspringyay · 14/03/2022 14:15

One at a time for all ages. Mine go in it together to make a den or play again but bouncing, they're one at a time on a timer.

Ay trampoline park only lets them one at a time. Family friend is an A&E consultant and he said some of the most serious injuries he sees are from kids on trampolines, and if they double bounce and don't time it right it can be awful.

If I could I would have gone for an in ground one but we don't have space.

My kids also ride hoses though so I guess it's the level of risk you are happy with.

MonkeyPuddle · 14/03/2022 14:18

Not a chance. I know a child who lost an eye on a trampoline so I’ve chosen to not allow my children to have one.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 14/03/2022 14:20

How did they lose an eye???

OP posts:
Idontevenknow · 14/03/2022 14:20

@MonkeyPuddle genuine question, but how is that even possible?

Duracellbunnywannabe · 14/03/2022 14:21

No. There should only ever be one child on a time and only for children aged 6 or over.

Seesawsally · 14/03/2022 14:21

As long as someone is supervising I can't see a problem. We've had one for years & no issues. The one at a time rule probably lasted about 1 week in our case.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 14/03/2022 14:22

Why can't kids younger than 6 go on one?

OP posts:
Thinkbiglittleone · 14/03/2022 14:23

Our DS goes on with his friends, never dreamt of a one at a time rule.
He is 4.5, a very petite 4.5 and we have never had an issue.

I think they are good for the kids but agree, get the bigger one so it last longer.

Readyforspring · 14/03/2022 14:24

Yes I agree with supervised.
Accidents can happened anywhere.
Dd laid her scooter down to grab a drink turned round from standing position and tripped over the scooter that she had just put down. And broke her elbow and wrist!
Not like she wad even riding and fell off.

MonkeyPuddle · 14/03/2022 14:27

The flap bit the covers over the springs around the edge wasn’t in place properly.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 14/03/2022 14:37

@DueyCheatemAndHow

Why can't kids younger than 6 go on one?
The risk of breaking a leg which is very dangerous for a child under the age of 6 is fairly high in comparison to other activities .
LadyOfMisrule · 14/03/2022 14:38

One at a time only. It is far more dangerous for the smaller one if you have two on it.
