London Black Cabs

I am a very infrequent visitor to London and could do with some advice please.

We are travelling into Kings Cross, then on to the outskirts of Hackney (Victoria Park). I am a new wheelchair user and very nervous of travelling on public transport, so I am thinking of just getting a cab. I know it will be expensive, but I think worth it for my piece of mind Smile

1/ Is there a taxi rank outside Kings Cross where you can just turn up and get in?
2/The journey is around 5 miles, will I be told the price before we set off or do I just watch the meter go round?
3/ Are the black cabs wheelchair accessible? Not a problem (I think) as my chair does fold.

Cheers Flowers

Hello Op,
I’ve just asked my husband who is a London taxi driver and he said there is a rank outside the station and that all taxis are wheelchair accessible. The taxi ride should cost about £20.

Yes to one and three. Price is on a metre so you won't know in advance and traffic will obviously push the price up.

Definitely yes to 1 and 3, if you get stuck in traffic the meter keeps ticking.
