Banbury

We're thinking of downsizing and moving closer to family, and Banbury looks like the ideal location for us.

I have been there a few times but don't know much about it. Any locals can give tips on where to avoid, or where's nice to live?

We don't need to worry about schools and the houses we like seem to be quite central, about ten minutes walk into town.

Any hints or tips would be very gratefully received.

Hi Mouse - I don't know the outer bits well enough to comment as I only moved a few months ago and I'm absolutely in the centre of the town. My dc is at uni now so schools weren't an issue for us so I'm not going to be much help on that front I'm afraid but funnily enough, William Morris Primary, which is in Bretch Hill, is Ofsted Outstanding.

We're looking seriously now so I'll post if we find anything if that's okay, for opinions on areas.

We went on Saturday and I loved lock 29, lots of nice things to eat.

My sister lives there. It's not to my taste with endless suburban estates but they're building so many new houses there. Lots of people aspire to move from an older estate to a newer one. There are plenty of properties.

Some of the villages around are really picturesque.

It's always struck me as pretty safe walking around but they do get the shop over the road ram raided every now and again.

It's very handy for Silverstone if that's your thing.

Hi @Mouse, my kids went to Bishop Carpenter in North Newington before we switched to private. It's only about a 5 minute drive from where we live in Banbury. I've heard great things about the little school in Hornton. Shennington has a good reputation as well. I don't know very much about the other schools.

@BeePeeGee - feel free to DM any specific properties you see and I'll give you the lowdown on the area!
