Experience/reassurance needed

Looks like my 3 year old is going to lose a tooth after a nasty fall.

Has anybody's toddler lost a tooth at such a young age and have the experience to share?

I am so worried about how it will look, whether the teeth will move into that place leaving no room for the adult tooth/ what the adult tooth will look like when it does appear.

Thanks

I'd have thought the only person that can legitimately advise on this is his/her dentist, having seen x-rays of the mouth etc.

I had my two front teeth out similarly when I was about 4/5. The adult teeth grew back perfectly straight with no issues. At 3 I can't imagine anyone even noticing a child with a tooth out so wouldn't worry about that.

Ultimately nobody is likely to have perfectly aligned teeth without the use of orthodontics or braces later in childhood. However the teeth grow (and I doubt this will affect a great deal) it can be dealt with (or not) when they are older via normal processes. I'd not worry OP, though appreciate a fall isn't nice. Have a chat with the dentist so they can reassure you further.

Thank you for your reply. We have been to see the dentist who will not x-Ray because of the age. Has said that nerve damage is likely because of the colouring of the tooth.

I asked about further damage to the adult tooth but was told that we just have to wait and see when it comes out and wouldn't give me any idea of what kind of damage we might see.

Obviously, I have lots of questions and want to have some kind of idea what I might be looking at but the dentist seemed reluctant to answer these.

my DS old also had a bad fall when he was three. Four of his front teeth were completely loose. For 2 weeks he was only allowed to have liquid food (porridge, pudding, mixed food etc). I was sure that they would fall out as they were moving so much. However, they all fixed themselves again (How?!). Now he has his adult teeth and you wouldn't notice anything any more.

My nephew lost both front teeth in a collision with another child on his first day of reception, aged 4. He was gappy for a few years but his adult teeth came through perfectly fine.
