Oh gosh that sounds absolutely terrifying. Can you pay for private counselling for him/her?? Sounds like they need serious help Shock

Busyworrying · 13/03/2022 21:21

Yes she is getting therapy but early days so far but we have been advised to not let her go out unaccompanied and she has become angry with us😔 for only trying to help

I'm sorry you're all going through this.
I have a similar history of ODs and honestly there is no quick fix, but I understand how scary it must be. It sounds like you're doing the right things and it must be hard when they are getting frustrated with your attempts to look after them but try not to take that to heart. Ime they will thank you eventually. My advice would be to keep supporting them and be prepared to advocate for them. Mental health services are a nightmare right now and it may take some fighting to get them the help they need.
I hope things get better for you both soon

Thank you for your messages
So nice to know that I am not alone in this
Today she felt really down said that she wanted to OD
We contacted the GP who said to call the crisis nhs 111 but was on hold and spent 5 hours trying but not got through
Anyone managed to get through to the mental health crisis team ?
I don’t know how to get help with the crisis team

I'm sorry you're going through all this.

You could try calling/web chatting/texting the Papyrus UK helpline www.papyrus-uk.org/. They're a charity focused on preventing suicide in under 35s and their helpline also supports the loved ones of someone experiencing suicidal and self-harming thoughts.

Is your daughter already under a mental health trust? If so, try googling their name plus "crisis" - you should at least get a different phone number to try.

Hope things improve for you all soon

Some areas have a mental health line that puts you through to mental health practitioners, usually you can find this through Google. It's usually faster than 111 if it's an option. Usually you have to be referred into Crisis Teams, mental health liaison in A&E can do this if you present there but it will involve a lot of waiting around which can be more stressful

Thank you all
I will give them a try
