Queen pulls out of commonwealth service

Due to concerns surrounding travelling as opposed to illness, understandable considering her recent frailty.

Surely her jubilee celebrations are going to be a huge ask for her to attend…

I know this is the same old chat concerning the Queen these days but I’m on my own and fancy a conversation!

I think shes quite seriously unwell, but won't announce it publicly :(

CherieBabySpliffUp · 11/03/2022 22:51

I thought she did something face to face earlier this week?

CannaBelieve · 11/03/2022 22:56

I think it's sensible.

Emmelina · 11/03/2022 22:58

We were talking about her frailty just the other week and about how the Jubilee is going to be this big deal she’s going to be expected to pop up here there and everywhere when she probably just wants a couple of days to drink tea in her slippers at her age.

She met with Justin Trudeau. But I believe that was at Windsor so no need for her to go anywhere - the whole thing could have been very short with resting immediately before and after.
Hospedia · 11/03/2022 23:01

She's very old, definitely nowhere near as spry as she used to be, and she lost her husband of many decades. I don't think her heart is in it any more and it's not surprising that she is handing off more of the workload to Charles.

stairway · 11/03/2022 23:04

She is very frail now, I doubt we will be seeing much of her now.

millytint44 · 11/03/2022 23:06

I'll be surprised if she lasts the year. I think she deserves to do exactly as she pleases right now.

Uninspiredusername · 11/03/2022 23:10

@millytint44 exactly what you said. It’s amazing to be able to celebrate a platinum jubilee but if I was her I’d want to be staying at home in the warmth (remember the barge / boat in the rain ten years ago?!)

I agree. She’s really deteriorated since Philip died.
Chilledchablis1 · 11/03/2022 23:18

I do hope she manages to attend PP’s Memorial Service .

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/03/2022 23:20

I think Philip kept her going. So sad.

Flavabobble · 11/03/2022 23:23

Nice to see the weekly thread predicting the Queen's demise.

Iwantcollarbones · 11/03/2022 23:24

She will attend Prince Phillips memorial but she is far more frail then she was this time last year. I think she will (and should) cut back/delegate more of her duties going forward. HRH has served the UK more then she could possibly have imagined she could have done when she ascended the throne all of those decades ago. She really has earned the right to relax in her twilight years.

Uninspiredusername · 11/03/2022 23:26

Thinking about it @Chilledchablis1 perhaps she’s saving her health and energy for Philips service

Gosh, how much more appropriate to see other senior royals 'deputing' for her, now.

We all know where this is going- the same for all of us...

Billlius · 11/03/2022 23:32

Will Harry ever see her again?

ClariceQuiff · 11/03/2022 23:35

The Queen has always been guided by her strong Christian faith. I expect she is now quietly waiting to be reunited with her husband.

Akire · 11/03/2022 23:36

It’s shame as attitudes towards Disability in this country she wouldn’t be allowed use a comfy wheelchair and be able to attend without having walk miles. Nobody is expecting her to be able to do what’s she done in past. Let’s wheel her out on balancing for wave to crowds and garden party where she can sit down whole time and people walk around her. Years worth of parties goodness wear anyone out.

I'm no Royalist, but seeing The Queen stand rigidly upright rather than sit, for what seemed like ages, in the teeth of a Thames wind, she did really well.
Standing still like that is remarkably tiring.

oakleaffy · 11/03/2022 23:45

Edit :
For a woman in her Eighties as she would have been then.

Inerve · 11/03/2022 23:53

I wonder what she thinks of the shit way Ukrainian refugees are being treated by the Government. Oh forgot, we have no idea what she thinks about anything at all. What is the point of them all then.

Open up your castles Ma'am, people need it.

I do respect her for her long and dedicated service, but the pantomime should well and truly end with her demise.

@ClariceQuiff

Don't be daft, she's too savvy to fall for that nonsense

millytint44 · 11/03/2022 23:56

Basically, just give her a break!!! She's a 95 year old woman. No one lasts forever. She is absolutely remarkable and I think deserves to do exactly as she wants for her last few months. I know I'd just be sitting at home, cuddling my (great) grandchildren, eating cake, if I were here.
