Isn't it annoying when you have to think twice about going for a walk off the beaten track?

I have a new hobby - basically finding bottles on Victorian bottle dumps. Have located a few good potential sites and I'm off tomorrow to have a walk round a specific site.

It's in a city centre but you turn off from the centre and you're in the area which is like an overgrown nature reserve I suppose. There's a path round but I need to veer into woodland a bit to find what I'm looking for

I am going but isn't it just so annoying that I have to consider whether it's totally safe to do so? I know nothing in life is completely but I've honestly never had these thoughts before and it's all these attacks on women in the news that have got me thinking now.

Would you be put off a little or just crack on? I will just be cracking on!

I used to go running at midnight 25 years ago. Don't ask me why now! Was just a bit of a night owl before I settled down and had kids and it suited me to clear my head and run round the estate late at night

Can you even imagine doing that now?

I'm far more wary now. There are lots of woods etc near us, but I'm much more wary going now. I hate it

Yes I feel a bit wary which is just irritating as it's very unlikely anything would happen

It's infuriating. I've got a park in walking distance that I love. A flasher has been seen in the surrounding roads. Really annoying I have to think about that

Yes to this. I didn't go out for the run I'd planned last week because dh was delayed getting back from work (dc too young to be left alone) and it was starting to get dark by the time he got in. Also, I wanted some new Bluetooth headphones for running, I prefer over ear ones but ended up buying in ear ones as all of the over ear ones were noise cancelling and I was worried about not being aware if there was someone behind me. Wouldn't it be amazing to have the same privilege as men have and not have to think about these things?

Yep. DP takes our son for a walk in woodland and halfway in it's isolated and so quiet. He cant understand why I don't take him for a walk there myself.
