The U.K. media is full of crazy fuel prices, energy costs etc.

I was wondering how global this sudden and rapid increase in cost of living is? Any non U.K. people want to share what it’s like in your country?

I am in France and it is the same here.

We just had our gas tank filled (no mains gas) and it was almost double what we paid this time last year.

I filled my car up on Saturday and petrol was 1.65/l. It is now 1.99.
Diesel is sitting at just over 2 euros a litre.

Yes the US gas prices are completely mad atm. $1.65 - $4 a gallon.

Worldgonecrazy · 10/03/2022 16:29

If my maths is right (not sure if U.K. and US gallons are the same) we are paying over $10 for a gallon of diesel! We can only dream of us fuel prices.

US gasoline is ridiculously cheap compared to UK

aus12 · 10/03/2022 17:10

It’s everywhere. For example iceberg lettuce is $5 in Aus (£3 approx) & petrol is above $2 a litre already & will keep rising.

Netherlands here and petrol is €2.31 a litre. Fortunately DH has a hybrid car and we pay around €15 a month to charge it.

We live in a small 1930s apartment building and there is a gas CH boiler that provides heating for all of us. Last year all the residents paid €200 a month for heating, this year it's gone up to €400. Fortunately I signed a 4 year deal for my electricity and I only pay around €35 a month, but that heating bill is killer.

Yes, Australian petrol prices are going up and NZ is $3.19 for a litre. I think we worked out that's about the equivalent of $12USD per gallon.
Food prices have shot up too, partly because of the international market/export and partly to do with the recent floods and weather.

I wonder if Asia and the Middle East have been affected? Anybody in Qatar or UAE or China etc noticed any changes?

QuentininQuarantino · 11/03/2022 20:12

Spain and yes. There are talks of strikes but not sure what that’s meant to achieve! It was 80€ to fill my car the other day it used to be €65
