Is this really shit for a birthday?

If someone happened to forget their husbands (baby brain, off work with pregnancy related symptoms illness, no sense of what month it is - thought it still was February)

I've managed to get a new bottle of his aftershave he had ran out one I bought last year a couple of months ago and had said he really liked it. Hugo boss so not overly cheap.

Moonpigged a card from me. Hand painted card from toddler.

Pyjamas and slippers I picked up in Next from toddler. Couldn't think of anything else. He needs new ones so was quite practical.

Hand made some little coupons both from me and toddler, some in one colour of father/son things and some in another colour from me, basically IOUs for date night, day out, you pick movie etc. Almost embarrassed to give them to him but wanted to bulk it up.

Oh and we're making a cake today.

Is this crap? I feel I've really dropped the ball here.

That sounds lovely! Smile

Rosieposie101 · 10/03/2022 13:12

I think it sounds good. Coupons are so cute!

Crunchymum · 10/03/2022 13:13

When was / is his birthday?

Sounds fine to me but then we don't really "do" birthdays for the adults.

OldTinHat · 10/03/2022 13:14

Just perfect! He'll love it all.

If he doesn't then he's an idiot and you'll have to LTB 😁

RedRec · 10/03/2022 13:14

Sounds really nice and thoughtful, OP.

ComtesseDeSpair · 10/03/2022 13:18

Sounds perfect. You’ve put thought in to get him something he likes and something you remember he needed and gone to the effort of making a homemade cake. Unless you usually go all out for birthdays / he specifically said he’d like something and he therefore has reason to be expecting wildly different, you’ve done great.

(But the sexes were reversed it would be a litany of “perfume is such a generic ‘woman’ gift, he clearly hasn’t given you any thought at all has he. And pyjamas for a birthday? Who does he think you are, his aged aunt? What a thoughtless twat he is”, so what do I know.)

ParkheadParadise · 10/03/2022 13:20

Sounds good

I think this sounds lovely. The only thing I'd do differently is maybe a voucher for an experience but probably instead of the pyjamas if you had time.

BellatrixOnABadDay · 10/03/2022 13:23

Tbh that sounds way better than any birthday presents I ever actually remembered to plan for my ex husband!

That's not why he's my ex, honestly 😂

Concestor · 10/03/2022 13:24

Sounds like loads!! My DH gets one gift from all of us costing around £20. (I get the same on mine.) I'm always a bit Shock at how many gifts people buy for birthdays on here.

mnetting · 10/03/2022 13:25

Sounds like plenty, we don't do presents, just go out for dinner for each of our birthdays.

OutdoorType · 10/03/2022 13:26

Aftershave, pyjamas, slippers and cake sounds more than enough to me!

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 10/03/2022 13:30

Doesnt sound bad at all

RealRaymondReddington · 10/03/2022 13:32

Ideal, just need to add a takeaway for dinner once the children are in bed!Grin

RandomQuest · 10/03/2022 13:36

Wow you’ve gone to loads of effort, not sure what you’re worried about. Personally I think the coupons are really cringe but I know not everyone agrees with me so if you’re confident your DH would appreciate them then they’re fine. Everything else sounds absolutely lovely, especially homemade cake!
