Would you complain to primark about this?

I brought some building blocks for my toddler from Primark (obviously) but today she was walking through the dining room and stood on one, she wasn’t even running so it’s not like she’s stamped on it either Sad

She has a considerable gash in the bottom of her foot, it was peeing blood everywhere (will try and get photos of the gash later but she’s so hysterical at the moment she wont let me near it now we’ve put a plaster on and a sock.

Is it worth me complaining? I mean it obviously their not meant to be stood on but she’s a toddler and had them out playing so it’s not all that avoidable but I also don’t want to look like a moaner!

I’ve added photos I took of only some of the aftermath as while I was holding DD’s foot to help the bleeding my step-dad was cleaning it up and I only thought to take some pictures just in case I do complain!

So.. would you? Sad

I'm surprised at the responses you've had here. I would definitely inform Primark of what's happened.

Building blocks or any toys sold for children shouldn't be sharp enough to slice through their skin! I would have thought that was obvious!

If you stand on Duplo it hurts, it won't cut your foot open. I've seen lots of building bricks in my time, never one sharp enough to cut skin.

NuffSaidSam · 10/03/2022 12:54

@Beees

that’s what I was in two minds about, obviously it’s not ideal and I think because she’s my DD and she was really hurt my mum-instincts are to obviously be upset about it.

Of course its understandable you're sad because she is hurt but reasonably this could have happened with lots of her toys. She could have stood on a book for example and it might have also cut her foot.

I'm sure she will be fine but i'd maybe use it as a small lesson in making sure she tidies her toys up and doesn't move around when eating food and not watching where she is going.

How sharp are your books?! Shock

They look like standard blocks to me , kids get hurt . I wouldn't complain as nothing is broken or damaged . She just stood on it . They aren't supposed to be stood on .

What materials are they made from? Are they solid? Are they like a duplo type block?

pitstoppop · 10/03/2022 13:05

They do look quite sharp I'd complain our Melissa and Doug blocks are slightly rounded

Would you complain to primark about this?

Of course complain to them and trading standards. No toy should make you bleed! Lego hurts like hell but it’s never going cut your feet. Not fit for purpose

LottyD32 · 10/03/2022 13:20

@SparkleSpangle

I would only complain if the reason she got a cut is because one of the blocks was damaged or defective in some way.

You can't really complain that she got a cut because you left perfectly safe building blocks all over the floor.

But they aren't perfectly safe if they can cut by standing on them. They should have beaded edges or whatever.

I'd send an email as a heads up, not a complaint.

sqirrelfriends · 10/03/2022 13:44

They should have rounded edges, we have a Hape set and a Melissa and Doug set, both have rounded edges. I have stepped on an errant triangle (or two) and although painful they didn't make me bleed.

ThanksPrimarkKidsCrying · 10/03/2022 14:07

@SparkleSpangle surely that would be less grounds to complain as I would obvious check for broken or damaged toys before letting her play with them, albeit I didn’t sit and rub/poke the edges of the blocks before I gave them to her. But I wouldn’t expect a toy aimed at children to cause that much of an injury if it’s not broken or defective. But that’s just my opinion Smile

Pretty much everybody stands on lego at some point, it's really painful but I have never known anyone cut themselves on it. I think it's a design/quality issue and would definitely complain.

Hurrylittlefroggy · 10/03/2022 21:08

Poor little one! I would email them and tell them. The batch of toys might be defective.

Akire · 10/03/2022 21:21

Funny if this was a John Lewis toy there he uproar it’s “primark” so what do you expect type of attitude to child safety. We have UK standards for a reason.
