Help me meal plan for crazy weekend please

Hello

Got a crazy weekend this weekend and just trying to think through what to make for everyone…

It’s an “all our kids weekend” so that means 1 gluten free and 1 dairy free (and 1 fussy but I can’t really cater for him as well this weekend so he’ll live on nuggets!)

So this is what I need to cater

FRIDAY - Dinner for 7 adults and 4 kids

SATURDAY
Breakfast for 7 (3 adults, 4 kids)

Lunch for 4 kids - thinking just pasta -obvs GF for the one.
Rugby nibbles
Dinner for 3 adults and 4 kids

SUNDAY
Breakfast for 7 (3 adults, 4 kids)

Then I’m off to football so don’t care! Grin

MONDAY
Posh dinner for 4 adults

The third adult on Saturday morning and the third adult on Sunday morning are different people so don’t mind the same breakfast…

also all dinner adults are different people so again can double up…

I’m a fairly good cook and don’t mind doing it but don’t particularly want to slave away all weekend. I have most of Friday to batch cook/prep so make in advance would be good…

Any ideas??

Friday I would do a huge lasagne for the adults. Meatballs for the children and make enough to do for their lunch the following day both can be prepped well in advance. Loads of garlic bread and salad for everyone.

Breakfast buy in some croissants, make a big fruit salad and get a tub of yoghurt and some granola and people can help themselves (same both days) Nibbles I would just chop us loads of veg/ pittas and have with hummus and buy in big bags of crisps to have in bowls maybe stick in some oven beige food if you want something more substantial.
Dinner chilli if the kids would eat it, if not a casserole or something that can be prepped and stuck in the slow cooker. Jacket potato’s and chopped up baguettes in the middle.

Monday fillet steaks, new potatoes and asparagus with a peppercorn sauce on the side.

This is my go to when my in laws come for the weekend!

Saturday dinner could be a joint of ham or pork done in the slow cooker all day, shredded (with or without bbq sauce out of a bottle) with salad, and jackets.

See I never think of ‘cold’ breakfast but that would be so much easier than individual hot bagels etc. I’m sure you can get GF croissants these days (it’s a new diagnosis so I’m not quite up to speed yet…
Fruit, yoghurt, pastries, eat what you like…

I like the idea of slow cooker pulled pork with jackets on the Saturday night, fees like a good ‘after beers with the rugby’ dinner!

Chilli with rice, guacamole, sour cream and tortilla chips is my go-to post rugby with beers meal. The kids love it in little taco boats too.

Chicken tray bake and roasted cauliflower on Friday night - nigellas Spanish chicken tray bake is a good one.
Yes to fruit salad yoghurt and granola for breakfast.

Nibbles I would not have too much as your diner is very substantial
For the posh dinner - steak is a good shout. I’d also have Eton mess for dessert using store bought meringues.

You certainly could get gluten free croissants but I can't remember where from unfortunately.

jowly · 10/03/2022 10:10

With any luck you'd have enough meat left for them to eat cold in sandwiches/rolls later in the evening (if they need after beer snacks)

Chelsea26 · 10/03/2022 10:13

YES - Eton mess! It’s so delicious, everyone likes it and it’s sooo easy (might have left over fruit from breakfasts too!) Great shout!

Think I will do pulled pork and chilli on Saturday night, can cook one in slow cooker on Friday and one on Saturday and then they can have leftovers on Sunday when I’m out. And yes - taco boats will get the fussy one on board! (Pardon the pun!)

Just found out that one friend on Monday doesn’t eat red meat anymore - thinking of doing this www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/french-style-chicken-peas-bacon with Mash? Or Rice? And roasted asparagus

Starting to write an epic shopping g list now, will be sure to leave it in the trolley in the hope someone finds it and posts it here! Grin

Spag bol for Friday night in the slow cooker. Naturally dairy free and just a separate portion of pasta for the gf person.
