Washing cat wee out of a duvet?

Turnitupto11 · 09/03/2022 08:09

My cat has weed on my duvet, it's a 13.5 tog winter duvet and won't fit in my washing machine. I don't have a bath to wash it in either and there's no launderette nearby. Do I need to wash the whole thing or can I just wash the area he weed on by spraying soapy water on it and scrubbing? Any other suggestions? The only way to dry it will be outside, but not sure it'll dry when it's not very warm?

I have an ancient cat who suffers from the occasional flare up of cystitis, in my experience, the only way to really get rid of it is to replace the duvet, but I just get a cheap one, last one just this week, £12 from Asda, for king size, 10.5 tog.
Cat has had shot of antibiotics and on metacam for 7 days.

Biological powder/washing liquid is the only thing that gets rid of the enzymes

I use an enzyme spray ,Wilkos has a good one for a couple of quid but I think unless you can wash the whole thing I'd replace it. Has the cat been checked for a UTI?

Lay it flat and soak the offending a're as in neat vodka. Cheap stuff will do.

Laundrette.

My cat went though this phase.
We are lucky to have a laundrette locally and they washed it.

A dry cleaner will probably have a large machine they can wash it in.

Thanks. Not sure where my nearest dry cleaners is. I hate throwing things away, but it wasn't an expensive one, so I may do that.
