Plugs that Alexa will turn off

Can anyone recommend plugs that will turn off when I tell Alexa to do so?

We had some a few years ago but they were so complex to set up we never actually managed to use them. Seem to remember they had a separate app and wouldn’t connect to the Wi-Fi despite repeated attempts

Are there any easier ones nowadays? I’d like to tell Alexa to turn off and all the things on standby would turn off together

I got the ones recommended by Amazon (and are usually discounted on eg Black Friday) and can turn them off using the echo dot

We use mainly Teckin ones. I seem to remember you have to set them up initially using a seperate app (which was a bit of a faff, but you just follow the instructions), and after that you can control them entirely by Alexa.

You can name and control them individually, and also put them into groups - so you could put all the standby things into one group, then either just say "Alexa switch 'standby' off", or set up a routine so they switch off/on at the same time every day (or later at weekends, etc.). All this can be set up in Alexa app on phone.

Thanks both

Would this work, for example, if you used one with an extension lead so the tv, the Xbox etc were going into one plug rather than each needing its own?

Yes I used on an extension lead at Christmas for all the festive light. You just have to add the plug on your Alexa app, it’s dead simple it tells you what to do.

Yes, the smart plug will turn off, which will stop any electricity flowing into the extension lead, so everything plugged into the extension lead will switch off.
