Looking for a good quality vitamin brand

I have not been eating well the last few years due to having IBS which I am really struggling with. (Have had numerous tests and tried every IBS diet, probiotics, kefir etc so am ok there, don’t need any advise with that atm).
I know that I should be eating well with 5+ veg and fruit etc but I have spent years experimenting with food and so much upsets my digestive system atm. I have a plain/bland diet and need to stick with that for the time being.
But I feel that to support this plain diet I need to start taking a good quality multivitamin and working my way up from there.
The supermarket ones don’t seem to have good ratings for being high quality. I don’t like Holland and Barratt and don’t have a nearby independent health store.
Can anyone recommend a high quality brand that I could purchase online?

Lamberts are good, you can get in their own site or on Amazonz

Alive multivitamin is really good one

And look on Victoria Health website. Lots of advice and the guy who runs it is so knowledgeable you can email him and he will answer any questions you have regarding supplements and Vitamins

I've found Revive Active to be really good (expensive but worth it). I have Crohn's and seriously struggle with nutrition, it's helped when I'm feeling really worn out. Though when I'm really bad and actually can't eat, I also have Fortisip drinks, they help with nutrition and getting some calories in.

Thanks for the recommendations.

ButterfliesndDaffodils Some days I just can’t eat either, I would love something like Fortisip for those days but am lactose intolerant. Wish they did a lactose free version.

I like salus (they make floradix) - liquid supplements so they are absorbed better

ButterfliesAndDaffodils · 08/03/2022 11:53

Sorry, @JustlookingNotbuying, that wasn't a very helpful suggestion if you can't actually have Fortisip. It's the only thing that keeps me going sometimes. I feel for you, those 'not able to eat' days are awful, aren't they? You feel too ill to eat, then the lack of food makes you feel sick, then you feel so sick from not eating that you can't actually keep food down. It's horrendous. The vitamins I suggested definitely helped me, though I'm not sure if they're available in the UK. Vivioptal maybe?

Cytoplan - great quality and great ethos

I love UK company BioCare - they have vitamins in liquid form, which is far better than tablets or even capsules.

And there are some alternatives to Fortisip like huel : www.sainsburys.co.uk/gol-ui/product/huel-chocolate-flavour-ready-to-drink-complete-meal-500ml or Purition( you have to mix it yourself).

BigWoollyJumpers · 08/03/2022 12:58

Don't spend money on the expensive lifestyle brands. They really aren't worth it. Just go to Boots (or even Poundland!), they all use the same ingredients, and you just pay extra for name, or brand, or special formulations supposedly specifically targeted at a demographic. They really are all basically the same, and you will only retain (not wee away), that which you need.

JustlookingNotbuying · 08/03/2022 14:07

ButterfliesAndDaffodils my IBS can be so awful at times but I can only imagine what your days are like, I have a couple of friends with IBD it’s truly awful but the cycle you describe is spot on, feel too poorly to eat yet the longer you go without food the worse you feel, horrible situation.
BigWoollyJumpers I was always lead to believe the cheaper vitamins were mainly fillers. Is there no such thing as a good quality vitamin?

Solgar and BioCare are the two a dietician I know recommends. She says cheap ones can be variable in quality.

Thank you. These may certainly help me on the days I can only face a couple of rice cakes (which obviously have the same nutritional value as a flip flop!)

I was going to say Solgar.

I remember watching something once and it mentioned cheaper ones being as good. But I suppose it depends what levels you need.
