Grandparent asking to take DD9 abroad?

My mum has asked to take my daughter abroad for two weeks in the summer? I would miss her and I’m slightly nervous but it’s her home country and I know my daughter would love it but it’s two whole weeks and I worry a lot. My daughter has said please please can I go. Pro is she would have a great time, I hope and a good experience but the con is I’m worried too, I remember going as a child and the heat is a bit intense and I felt sick a few times but I did have fun too. What would you do?

Happy to hear it, hope she will have a great time and that it won’t be too difficult for you.

I'd let her go.

@anon2334 you are so right, time doesn't stop for any of us.
I can imagine you will miss her but she will love it and your DM will really appreciate that you trust her as well. Good for relationships all round.

I'd let her go, I used to go on holiday abroad with my nan from age 8, loved it

Mine used to go away with DGP's for a month every summer at that age. They loved it and I couldn't say no to the opportunity for them, no matter how much I missed them.

I would let her go, my mum took my nephew to Disney world Florida it’s something my sister would have never been able to afford otherwise.

Sounds like a lovely memory for them both

Good news OP . This is one of those 'if you love them, let them free' moments!

I say let her go. My mum used to go to Ireland with her GM when she was young, and it gave her a real connection to the country and relatives there. My mum has very fond memories of her summers and it's been a great source of family stories now that the older generation is no longer with us.
