Help? H&S for baby’s party!?

I’ve been trying to book a little hall for DS party
The church hall are making me jump through hoops, it feels !

They’ve asked for me to fill out a health and safety form ( which I did) but now they’ve asked me to be more thorough?
I feel like im writing a business proposal and not paying to hire a hall for 3 hours ?

“ the hazards section needs more thought,
e.g.
potential for spills of food and drink, leading to slip and trip hazards,
potential for toddlers to trip on baby mats etc.”

The hall is used for various groups doing various activities, so I get that this would need to be comprehensive - I’ve no idea what else to write?
“Adults will not drink so much that they puke everywhere?” “ children will not eat so much jelly that they puke everywhere?”

They’re asking what I’m doing to avoid accidents?
Help! It’s coming up soon! Confused

They should have a general risk assessment for hirers-ask where it is as lots of the stuff like that will be covered on it.

lol - some church halls / halls are mad. Surely you just hire it at your own risk?

That's ridiculous! I'd be finding another hall to be honest, it doesn't sound as if they want you.
If they're getting the money surely they should be providing the risk assessment.

I did find this online though

Do they have any terms and conditions of hire?

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 07/03/2022 12:43

I’ve hired a couple of halls and never had this. I signed a form promising to leave it in the same condition as found and agreeing to follow their risk assessment. You shouldn’t be writing the risk assessment yourself. Hmm

@Partyatnumber10 ha yes I did get this feeling but I’ve been doing this dance back and forth for three weeks and now it feels like a battle of wills! I must win!

Thanks @SuperSange I’ll check the endless attachments
@bestbefore I know ? Crazy. I’m paying THEM!? Give me the bloody room! We promise not to Axe-throw in it? Wink

I'd cancel TBH - I bet it will be more trouble when you leave - they'll charge you if you leave a crisp on the floor when you leave...

Londoncallingtothefarawaytowns · 07/03/2022 13:21

@Partyatnumber10 that’s helpful , I’m just reading through it. Half of me is tempted to go OTT with it.

They’re asking for a register of attendance ( it’s a party- I’ll be lucky if half actually arrive?)
And public liability insurance

I’d book anywhere else if I could, honestly. But none of the local bowling clubs were having it !

Have updated the form ! Wish me luck, or you’ll see me in a local paper with “compo” face complaining Grin

They should be providing the public liability! They sound like a bunch of chancers.

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/03/2022 20:10

They ought to have public liability insurance.

Cancel and find somewhere else.

purpleme12 · 07/03/2022 20:13

God no I wouldn't do this if they're saying you need liability insurance for this

Glendaruel · 07/03/2022 20:14

You could tell them that under gdpr you can't provide that information as people haven't given permission for their names to be handed out.....Grin

mnnewbie111 · 07/03/2022 20:21

I used to manage an event space, it's their responsibility, not yours! Tell them to do it themselves. I bet their boss asks them for it and they've sneakily put in on the customer

Tee20x · 07/03/2022 20:23

This is awful. I recently had a hall for a kids bday party and had to do nothing of the sort

underneaththeash · 07/03/2022 20:27

I’d reply and say that you think that they’re confused. You’re not required to have PLI or do a risk assessment unless you’re charging for entry.
