Signing passports

Having a few issues getting DS passport signed (First passport). I know they can't be a relative but would my cousins wife be able to sign it or would that still be classed as a relative?

I don't think your cousins wife could because she would count as a relative by marriage which is on the list of who can't. Sorry, it is such a pain isn't it.

No not wife but unmarried partners could work

AdaColeman · 06/03/2022 20:55

No, your cousin’s wife can’t sign as she is related to you by marriage.
What about a neighbour who has known you for at least two years?

Theimpossiblegirl · 06/03/2022 21:01

Is he at school? I'm a teacher and I happily countersign passports.

Kitkat151 · 06/03/2022 21:09

No...not is they are married......do you know any nurses?

AdaColeman · 06/03/2022 21:14

If the child is under 16, then the person countersigning has to have known (and be able to recognise) the parent applying for the passport, which wouldn’t always be true for a teacher.

My brother in law signed for my children and it was approved.

Cant be counter signed by anyone related tomyou by birth or marriage.
School teachers, nursery owner, do any of your friends or colleagues meet the requirement?
