So ended up 6 months ago in hospital via a and e as I had binary colic, I was on holiday so they didn't want to take it out there and then, it's flared up a few times since quite badly but not enough to need hospital. So since this morning it's been grumbling and is slowly getting more and more painful, is it worth a trip to doctors or a and e? I mean paracetamol isn't helping and I can't take co-codamal as it makes me sick!

Anyone?

If OTC painkillers aren't helping then you need A&E, for something stronger and an assessment. The main danger from an attack is a stone getting stuck.

Thanks yes OTC aren't helping so hospital it is

I take Buscopan or ibuprofen (both together if necessary) when I have a full blown attack.
If mine is doing the grumbling thing, the thing which helps most is peppermint tea bizarrely.

xhyrug · 06/03/2022 14:52

Thanks @PAFMO I have taken some buscopan a little earlier and I can't take ibuprofen as I'm asthmatic x

Go to A&E.

I had a few attacks and just muddled through.

It wouldn’t ease with paracetamol and I’d been really sick, so called 111. They sent me to A&E and I was admitted with acute pancreatitis.

What’s the worst that can happen from going? It’s a waste of a Sunday afternoon.

What’s the worst that can happen from NOT going?

@xhyrug

Thanks *@PAFMO* I have taken some buscopan a little earlier and I can't take ibuprofen as I'm asthmatic x
Oh no. I agree with pp then. The worst that could happen is they send you home, but best get checked if a biggie is coming. Hope you feel better soon. Flowers

Candlecassie · 06/03/2022 20:46

Hopefully you’ve had some pain relief at hospital OP. You have my sympathies.

xhyrug · 06/03/2022 20:51

Phew! glad you are getting some help OP

xhyrug · 06/03/2022 23:49

Being admitted due to the pain and a slight infection.

Bookishnerd · 07/03/2022 05:22

Sorry OP, being admitted sucks but at least you are in the right place and are getting the support you need.

xhyrug · 07/03/2022 20:59

I'm still in, was meant to have a scan but haven't had it, I'm still in due to still being in pain and sickness, they are doing to put me on the urgent list for the op for a few weeks time, with the hope the infection goes.

Bookishnerd · 07/03/2022 21:15

Urgh, how horrible! Sorry you are still in. I’m so glad you went now though.

Have you got lots of podcasts, books, reading material, games?

There’s so much waiting about in hospitals
