Washing machine uneven loads

I have a bosch washing machine which for some time as added extra time to washes. Never the same amount of time. I recently reproofed my coat which should have taken 2 x30 minute washes, but the amount of time on both washes came to 2 hrs 20 minutes. Other washes add extra time at different intervals. The engineer informed me that this was caused by uneven loads. Has anyone else experienced this problem. With energy prices about to escalate!!!

I have a Bosch too. If the load is too large for the programme you've selected, or you use too much detergent, it will extend the wash time. Coats are heavy when wet so the machine will adjust for that.

It also does it the other way, so if your load is light for the selected programme it will reduce the cycle time.

Hi
What i do not understand is why after 15 minutes washing it has stopped, the timer but carried on washing for 15 mins. To start again to go to 1 min. then back to 3 min. At 1 minute spin for 15 minutes before stopping. On a 30 minute wash.
Other times I notice it has reached 5 minutes the next minute it is reading 20 mins. This changes all the time. How is this an uneven load problem. Most of my washes aree103 minutes.

Yep, mine does that. I assume it has set points when it senses the weight of the load and how much detergent is left in the water, and re-adjusts accordingly.

If yours is doing it a lot make sure you aren't overloading for the wash programme and that you're not using too much detergent.

Funny that you've mentioned this as I washed two large bath towels today (in a new Bosch machine) and it appeared to be stuck on the spin cycle (or rather just before it). I assume they were too heavy and unbalanced the machine as the machine is too new to be blocked or have limescale etc but has been used a few times so the pipes/hoses etc are ok and didn't get kinked when being installed.

Anyway I took them out and am drip-drying them outside. Hopefully it will be ok next time I do a wash. I will report back.

My Bosch machine has a mind of it's own. Rinsing is appalling, I can easily wash with detergent once in every 3 or 4 washes as it never rinses out and even with none added there is still suds in the door.

It will finish a cycle (when it feels like it) but if it is unbalanced can take several rinse cycles with me adjusting the positioning of the items before it will actually spin.

If you find it won't spin, try reducing the spin speed, I find that can work sometimes.
