Think my arms are going to snap lifting my baby

Sounds dramatic but I feel like my forearms could snap lifting up my baby. Specifically along the ulna bone about half way between wrist and elbow. Is this a thing? Should I be doing exercises to strengthen the muscle? Or lifting him differently? He's 10 months and 11kg. His sister is 2.5yo and also 11kg (don't ask how I made one 2nd centile and one 99th centile child 😂) and it feels completely different lifting her, possibly cos her torso is smaller cos her limbs are longer so the weight is spread out a bit more. He's just a wee solid barrel. I've read about "mummy wrist" but that seems to be in a different place.

The biggest muscles I had was when my twins were 9-12 months (so pre walking), my arms/wrists ached constantly. I don't know the answer but it won't be long before it gets easier. I actually used a sling a lot because I wouldn't have managed otherwise.

It definitely gets easier when they cooperate with being lifted. But given I can carry my 12 yr old on the rare occasion he comes for cuddles, I'd say you need to look at some resistance or weights training.

It’s because he’s just a big round pudding right now. As he gets taller it’ll be easier. In the meantime try putting him on your hip. He’s old enough he can sit on it now.

A big round pudding is exactly what he is! He does sit on my hip, it's just lifting him to get him there. I try and lift with me knees etc but it's getting him to my body to then lift if you see what I mean. He's so close to walking but tbh I was saying that at Christmas. Hurry up!

Ive had carpol tunnel since having both my children. Oldest is 2.5 and youngest is 10months and I feel have the same feeling when lifting my kids. Perhaps you have carpol tunnel? (It feels like my wrists are going to snap sometimes!)

I ended up with tendinitis in my wrist when my little one was 2. She was my little Velcro baby and I found myself carrying her on my hip while getting stuff done when she outgrew her baby carrier.

I bought a wrist brace and it helped so much. It reduced pain, supported my wrist and allowed it to heal. And I was still able to get things done.
