Has anyone left a job with good pay & benefits for something less stressful?

I’ve been with my company for 14years. I like my job but things are changing with new management. More and more corporate stuff which isn’t me. Getting asked to do things that just aren’t me. My boss can be tricky, very up & down, changing mind constantly which messes with my head and likes to micromanage. I know what I’m doing as been doing it so long but am treated at time like a school leaver. I’m 50😀
The pay & benefits are good and having looked online I wouldn’t get nearly the same pay elsewhere.
Feel trapped and am stressed alot of the time worrying about it. I’m not sure I’d have the confidence to leave and start again. But also the thought of being there until I’m 65 fills me with dread🙁

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar and what did you do? Thanks

Yes, I did in my late forties.
Left my inner city teaching job. Moved to remote hills in the north, bought an old very small, pretty run down cottage which was all I could afford that crucially had the bit of land I needed to set up my own kennel & small milk goat herd. Hard work, renovating the cottage in the beginning along with everything else but never ever regretted it, not for one minute. Best thing I ever did.

Dark lane that sounds lovely.
I did, I left a higher paid job for a low stress, much lower pay job. No regrets although I’ve had to economize. I’m not far off retirement, and the stress was affecting my health.

Yes. I left my job of over 20 years. It had become very 'political' and pretty unbearable. I felt on a hamster wheel, and although I really enjoyed the actual job I knew I needed a change.

I now live 250 miles away and have a much less stressful.life, with about £10k a year less overall. I work part time ( I did before too) and have lots of time to enjoy myself without the constant nagging stress about work.

I have, but on a much less grand scale that some other posters.

I took a job which pays less (same profession), but it's local (so I'm not having to commute into Central London), which is saving 3 hours a day.

My job is working from home, so I've offset the drop in salary against travel costs, childcare and the odd lunch/coffee.

It's not my forever job, but it suits me for now.
